Elizabeth, can you describe the illustrations - e.g., simple or detailed, realistic or cartoon-like, painted watercolors or bold graphics, bright or dark colors? Do they remind you of a similar illustrator or picture book author?

I've never heard rabbits called "conies," but Google says it's a British term. Was the book British?

As for the other questions, I'm not sure if the book was british, it might have been but I don't really remember.
The illustrations were fairly simple, but not really cartoony? I'm not really sure, my memory is kinda fuzzy, sorry!

In the book, this town of rabbits (the book calls them conies) have this huge old tree in the middle of a park. One day, they chip some of the "tree" off and find out that it's orange and edible. The rabbits chip away at the "tree" and the book ends with the "tree" getting yanked up out of the ground completely, revelaing that it was actually a giant carrot.
I read this a lot as a kid, so around the early 2000's, probably around 2005ish.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
