Probably not, but worth a try: The Tapestry of Love by Rosy Thornton? Old, wooden door is white / red, plant to the side. Set in Provence, not Italy though.
Another probable match is The Gentleman by Natasha Powell. It has multiple covers. One has an old-looking house(grey and white) with a darkly shaded man surrounded in purple. Another cover has a fiery-orange looking door(old-looking as well) bordered by a bright purple flame
Thank You, but none of those are the book.It is just a door. Similar to
.It is a door that looks very welcoming. You would want to vacation at this house.
A few long shots:
The Lady in the Palazzo: An Umbrian Love Story by Marlena De Blasi
Blossoming In Provence by Kristin Espinasse
Shannon, was the door open or closed? In the very center of the book, or off to the side?
Did the door look rough or more finely crafted?

It's not any of those. But thanks. The door is closed in the picture and is centered in the picture. I don't remember if it was rough or fine crafted. The door almost takes up the whole picture.
Thank you far all of your searching, but it's not any of those. Some of them do look good though. I may have to track my ex-coworker down and hope she remembers the book.
I looked there too! And the door I am looking for is a photo of a real door. Not a painting or drawing.
Is it "The Door" by Magda Szabo? Historical fiction about a friendship between two different women in post war Hungary.

That's a great idea. Let us know what you find out. :)

I think the door is either blue or red. I think it is wooden and looks old.
It has trees, bushes, or planters with greenery on the sides.
The door could either be in a tropical area or somewhere like Italy.
I remember seeing a ex co-worker read this book a couple of years ago.
