I believe that I am finally up to the point of seeking an editor for my new science fiction novel. I planned to use my past editor who assisted me with a short story that was accepted and published in an anthology but unfortunately she took sick and wont be able to commit to any new projects.
The book is in the science fiction genre with an emphasis on machines (if you liked the Terminator movies, youll like it) and the exact word count is 81,097 words. I have a team of beta readers who all have given me invaluable feedback to help me ensure the structure is what I envisioned and I have made countless self editing passes trying to polish it to perfection. At this point, Im simply not catching anymore errors and am ready for a processional.
At this time, I am seeking a line edit then once that process is completed, Ill be seeking a final proofread before I do the formatting for both versions. If you've edited any books in this genre, lets talk. Availability wise, Im hoping to find someone that can get started on it fairly quickly (doesn't have to be immediately but preferably within a month.) Budget wise, I'll leave this open because it really depends on the editor, their works, and references if I get a number of responses. I dont want the cheapest person I can find, I want someone who isnt afraid to dig into the details. Ive done some research and have a general idea of whats fair but again, it depends on the person. Hopefully I'll be able to make a choice within the next few days. Please reply with your availability, estimated quote (I understand it could vary but at least a ballpark figure), and mention any science fiction books youve edited (chances are, I probably have either read it or at least have heard of it.)
