Read between 1987 and 1994, this book was a take on Rapunzel. The girl who would be Rapunzel lives with her guardian, who is the head of a girls school. She lives in a tower dorm. Falls in love with a guy (a gardener?) and they run away together (I think she had to cut her hair at some point).
