Adam the son of the Duke of Mornington has returned after his father banished him over a year ago, believing him to have murdered a young woman and her son. The Duke has taken ill and still refuses his son. Adam is now back to try and reconcile with his ill father and to prove he was not the murderer. Charity is the daughter of vicar and has known Adam since they were children. Although she knows Adam is not a murderer, she knows her father would never let them be more than friends. Charity's best friend Esther plays an important role in the story. Adam and Charity's relationship becomes stronger and they find together how the pieces of this puzzle is coming together. I was astonished at the ending of this book. What a great ending to the suspense and mystery. I found it dragging at times, but still a wonderful story.

Lady Helena Barrington has a skin condition with rash and blisters that keeps her locked up in her home. One evening she finds a woman outside in a terrible blizzard. Knowing she is not to engage with others, she still has the woman brought it for fear of her life. THis maid Lucy, from the Durham estate steals a broach that was left on a table when Helena leaves the room. Instead of Helena turning her over to the authorities, she makes a deal with Lucy to be courted by her employer, the Duke of Durham. James Campbell, the Duke has just lost everything from a bad business investment. When Lucy tells him of the scheme, he is appaled. Never having met Helena, he doesn't know of her condition. But possibly, this could be a way to get in good with her father to rebuild his business. This was one of the most enjoyable books I have read in a while. The story line is absolutely great, the characters are so strong. The way the author writes, it is like you are there in the midst of all of it. For being trapped inside her home all these years, Helena is a bright, stubborn and independent woman. I really enjoyed the bantering between Helena and James and James and Lucy. I found myself chuckling at times. This book had such raw emotion, romance, mystery and suspense. I would certainly recommend this book.

Two nobles after the Lady Jillian. Jillian is quite niave regarding love and relationships so when she encounters Radley Talford, a very handsome baron, on a family trip to the seashore of Brighton, she finds she is smitten by the attention. But the more she gets to know him, the more she finds herself very uncomfortable and frightened by is advances. Jeremy Stelbridge has been a friend since they were children. They have a lot in common and Jillian fills comfortable with Jeremy. Jeremy hasn't had the courage to tell her how he feels. Lady Jillian isn't seeing what is right in front of her. As Radley continues to push her and then blackmail her, it is time for both Jillian and Jeremy disclose their true feelings with one another.
I found this book so drawn out I skipped over half of it. I got bored with the same dialogue over and over again. The writing was very choppy. I didn't like this book at all. One star review is generous from me.

The storyline was good, but I found it too wordy. It could have been condensed and still have made a good story. The editing and proofing were horrible. Names were constantly being mixed up. I spent a great deal of time having to re-read many parts to figure out who was who, doing what. It really took so much away from the book. I really can't recommend the Kindle version.

This book took me in from the very beginning. Two people destined to be together but are pulled apart for reasons beyond some of their doings. Dario Harrison, Marquess of Weatherbrook is traveling to Italy on the urge of his grandmother and father. His grandmother wants him to learn his heritage and see the villa that will be his one day. Before he leaves England he writes a letter to Lady Augusta, his true love, telling her that he loves her and wants to marry her once he gets back. Somehow, this letter never gets into her hands. A shipwreck has left her wondering if her love Dario is still alive. Why has Dario not heard from her or his family? Little does he know that they all think he is dead after reading in the Gazette of the shipwreck. This book is such a beautiful love story with suspense, true love and sadness. I just loved it. Excellent!!

The story lines in all three books were very good, good character development, but I just couldn't get past the constant, consistent, repetitive descriptions of everyone and everything. Halfway through the first book, I skipped over most of it and just read the dialogues. I got very bored, very quickly. To be honest, I was so glad when I read all of them and was done with it.

I never thought I would finish these. The story lines were all very good, but the majority of them were so drawn out I almost gave up and didn't finish the set. But when I do an Advanced review, I don't ike to quit. I did enjoy one book in the set and that is "Is Hearts Whisper." by Aurora Hanson. A beautiful love story. I would try to read one book at a time and not all in a row,

This book had everything I would want. A little spicy romance, suspense, intrigue, emotion, passion, witty banter. I am shocked at the poor reviews because I really enjoyed this. Two women, one good, one bad. One hunky Highlander coming to England, not wanting to be there and angry regarding his herirtage to find he is betrothed to a woman he has never met. That woman thinks he is a barbarian and lets him know it infront of a household of guests to try to get her parents to stop this nonsence. A sweet young lady who has some "ghosts" in her closet, who imagines she will never find anyone who will marry her. The making of a great story line. I loved Sabrina's love for life and laughter. Looking forward to the rest in the series.

A fairly enjoyable story line but I felt it had every unbelievable characters and situations. I felt the atmosphere regarding racism in the 19th century was inappropriately and historically incorrect. I also couldn't see some duchess from England traveling the wild parts of the country in a carriage and her group of servants and protectors at all believable. I did enjoy the banter between the two main characters. Colt was nothing like I would have expected a half breed to be or act like, and Jocelyn was a spoiled brat. The ending had no substance to match the rest of the book. It felt unfinished to me. I was disappointed in this book as I really have enjoyed other books from this author. It was just okay.

I’m mostly reading historical fiction mysteries.

Danny is a young women who lives on the streets with very little memory of her past after a club to her head as a child. She dresses and looks like a boy so her "leader" of the gang doesn't make her a prostitute. She is a very good thief. Jeremy Malory and his friend set up a trap to get a thief to go and steal their posessions back from another thief. Malory can tell at once she is no male. Once Danny does this deed, she is kicked out of the gang. She finds Malory and blackmails him into giving her a job so she can better herself and find a reputable man to marry and start a family with. Bits and pieces haunt her as her memory starts to return. Jeremy Malory only wants to get her into his bed.
I found this had a decent story line, but I didn't care for either of the main characters. As spunky and independent as Danny was, I was disgusted that she would become the one thing she promised herself she would never be. Someone's mistress. I found Jeremy Malory a sexual abuser and was contstantly making lude suggestions and touching her. Sorry Amazon, but I thought he was a pig? Not my kind of a spicy, historical romanance

This is a wondeful story. Ada falls from her horse and is saved by the dashing Jeremia and then they fall for each other. But because of a feud between thier fathers, there is no chance they can ever be together. Their fathers can't let go of the past and hate each other too much to even want them to know each other. There is so much opposition, anger and old wounds. This story is a full of passion, tears, tasteful steamy romance and mystery. I thought all of the characters were so well defined and believable. I loved and cried with all of them. Just the most wonderful, enjoyable book. Would like to give this book for than a 5 star review. I would surely recommend this book.

Melanie Benson wants to travel the world and get away from her demanding father and Chicago. Her plan is to run away with a traveling salesman, Adrian. But after receiving news of her aunts failing health, her father sends her to Texas to care for her. Dr Charlie Noble is the physician caring her aunt and this was no love at first sight. There is hostility against Charlie in the town following the death of a child. But as time goes on Charlie and Melanie become friends and find they do have some things in common. Melanie is now in charge trying to get her aunts store together and Charlie has helped her. Even though Melanie still planned on going back to Chicago and run away with Adrian, she realizes that she is having second thoughts and her feelings are changing. This book finds itself in the midst of evil, suspense and mystery along with forgiveness and romance. It was a very heartwarming story. The extended epilogue was a wonderful ending. The only problem I saw with the Kindle addition was terrible editing. I would certainly recommend this book.

A clean romance between a spinster and a rake. Rebecca was scorned and rejected in the past which left her with a bad reputation. She has no desire to allow anyone do that to her again. But she is happy that her sister Eliza has found a wonderful man in Alexander. Alexander's best friend, the Duke, Timothy Fletcher, is know as the local rake. Although Timothy's mother is pushing him to marry and produce an heir, he feels he will never be able to love just one woman. When the four of them meet at the ball, Timothy's charm and rakish behavior is put upon to Rebecca. But she certainly can hold her own. This was a much enjoyable book for me. All the characters were so well defined and entertaining. What a wonderul historical romance. The only thing I found wrong with the book was its title. It should be “….to reform the Duke” not “….to reform to Duke.” I would certainly recommend this book.

Lady Alexandra was ready for the coming of the Season, when her sister Rose elopes with the gardener and has stolen her dowry. Now they are all shamed and humiliated. Duke Justin has hidden away since an unfortunate accident left him badly scarred in the face. The ton has treated him horribly and he now is a recluse. For revenge he gets into a masquerade ball where painters will be painting portraits of the beautiful ladies. In his revenge he finishes them at home and paints them very disfigured and disgusting. He sends them to each of the women and also hangs them in a gallery in York. Of course, when Alexandra gets hers, she is horrified. Another reason to cause shame and ridicule to her. But Justin begins to feel guilty regarding Alexandra. So, he asks to see the Lady. After luncheon, he surprisingly asks her to marry him. He feels they are both scarred from the ton and have little options. Her parents have her marry him. As time goes by, they come to care for each other a great deal. Until Alexandra discovers the starting paintings in the attic of the once disfigured paintings. She now knows it is her husband who caused her the title of the "Monstrous Lady." I found this book a wonderful change for a story line. The characters were wonderful, and you could truly feel for them. How the romance evolved, and the plot thickened throughout the book. I really enjoyed this sweet, historic romance. A couple of editing issues, but nothing that would take away from the book. I would certainly recommend it.

A story about Anne and Joseph. Both coming from different classes of society. Anne is the Duke's daughter who really has no interest in marriage, but her father all of a sudden is pushing her to find a husband. He is accepting many invitations for gatherings to help her find a husband. Jane is the Lady's maid and sister of the Duke's new manservant. Anne and Joseph find they have many of the same likes and enjoy talking and seeing each other. But the obsticles infront of them are very challenging. Including a difficult man who wants to marry Anne only for money and prestige. This was a fun book, a little too drawn out though. I felt the ending left me with questions that were not answered in the extended epilogue. What became of Joseph's family?

This book is again the clashing of social differences and the many roadblocks two people who have found love have to endure. Lady Maggie is a prisoner in her own home after her mother died a horrible accident. Her father is adament now to keep her completely safe. Her friend Emma and her Aunt have found a way to have Maggie attended Emma's birthday ball and spend some time there. Noah Radcliffe is one of the stable hands there and he and his father have finally put down roots. Niether one wants to lose that. But Maggie and Noah have fallen in love and find ways to sneak away to see each other. This is very dangerous for both of them and their family and friends. The scandal it would cause would leave them all victimized throughout society. But love is so strong between these two people. This story had great characters, sexy romance, suspense. I did find however, that the book was very dragged out. I felt it could have been condensed alot and still have been a great story.

I won this free book from the author and I appreciated it. I am conflicted how I felt about the book. The story line was fun and one I have read before in other books. Fiona/Fin is an inventor and is trying to patent her "matches". But to do this and during these times, she dresses up as a male. Edward Stirling, the Duke of Wildeforde, has worked hard over the years trying to bring back the reputation of his family after what his late father did. Edward and Fiona have a past, so when Fiona gets arrested, he helps her out. He is so overly worried about how he looks and what people thinks, it is hard for Fiona to care about him still. But to hide this masquarade of her dressing as a him gets very complicated in many ways. In comes the (what I felt was the "evil" mother and Edwards two siblings. Charlotte and William were entertaining in their own ways. This book jumped around alot and had so many other subplots, I found it difficult at times to concentrate on what was going on. Many characters to keep track of. Ireally expected more from the ending. But...the book was still very good and entertaining.

A beautiful story of how two people from entirely different worlds meet on a train., Chloe has had to stow away after someone stole her satchel with all the money, she had earned working for a wealthy family for next to nothing. She needs to go to Colorado to try and find her mother who left her on the orphanages step when she was just a child. She promised Chloe in a letter left with her, that she would return for her. Theo is leaving his wealthy family to pursue a dream of working the land and having animals on a farm in Colorado. After Chloe is found out and almost put in jail, Theo buys her a ticket for the train and rides with her to Colorado. Although the ending is predictable, the sweet romance is heartwarming. Even with a few twists and turns. Finding love on a train. Sweet. Only one thing caught my attention though. A statement "throwing you under the bus." I don't think they had those in those days. Ooops.

Eden was orphaned at a young age and was brought up by her anut and uncle. Since her dear Aunt died, her uncle only uses her to make things for him to sell. She works endless hours with no appreciation and not one penny. Adam is in Chicago learning woodworking from his uncle. His plan it to go back to Texas and open his own shop. His family owns a large and profitable ranch, but that isn't the life he wants. Adam wants to find another bonnett he got a while back for his mother. Eden is alone when Adam knocks on the door. Her uncle is off selling "her" goods so she lets him in. She finds how wonderful he is to talk with. When Adam finds out what a terrible life she has,he secretely takes her to Texas. Eden is glad to be away from her old life and is excited to sell her wares at the Easter Celebration with a booth of her own. But the past has found a way to come back at her. This was a sweet romance. Two people from two different worlds that find each other. And for Eden, a new family. It also has a spark of suspence thrown in. I felt it dragged a bit and the editing on Kindle was terrible. But all in all, a good book.

Rosalyn is an independent, strong, intellegnt women coming from a poor family. It wasn't always poor but now her father wants to give her a season to find a wealthy husband. Her godmother is helping them both having been a dear friend to her late mother and having the resources to help her. At her first ball, she was publicly humiliated by an awful man she didn't even know. Lord Chase is the friend of that man and was appalled by his behaviour. He has now set his sights on setting things right with Rosalyn. He makes a plan to be courting her. He buys her gowns and escorts her to other functions to throw it in his friends face. Lord Chase's father is extremely ill and acts like a lunatic as he is dying, and Chase feels he will end of being just like his father, so he has no desire to marry. Yet, the two become very close friends and of course, they fall in love. But there are many pitfuls in their relationship. I felt the story line was very good and I enjoyed the characters very much. I also felt the ending was very lacking. There were so editing issues and it took my many tries to figure out how to get the extended epilogue. But all in all, a good read.

Not one of her best books. The characters were superficial and unbelievable. The parts I did enjoy was the reading about Australia, the outback and mining. I have been to Australia and it brough back wonderful memories. I very much enjoyed the character of the aborigine named Tingari otherwise it would have been a less star review.

Rhodeia's mother is sneaking her out of the house and country when her father arranges a marriage to a horrid man on her birthday. Her mother doesn't want her stuck in a horrendous marriage like she has. On her way to Scotland on her beloved horse, a storm comes up and she is thrown off and injured. Emmet MacLachlan, Marquess of Maynardshire is waiting out the storm also in an old hunting cabin when he finds her. Neither give their true identities to each other. Emmet takes "Sophie" to a doctor who is a dear friend of his. Here she stays to recuperate. Emmet's selfish mother is determined to get him married off to the woman who ran off to marry a richer man right before their wedding. I found this to be a very exciting story. Many twists and turns and suspense, plus of course, romance. So many different, strong, fun characters. I would certainly recommend it.

It was an okay story, but very unbelievable. A nun can't just leave with an unsupervised man and just quit being a nun so quickly. The story line is interesting, and the characters are strong. This is NOT a standalone book, and it didn't follow through at the end and left me with loose ends for the main characters. Left me uninterested in the next book in the series,

I do wish authors would put the date the story is set in, at the beginning of the story.
It’s annoying trying to work out the years. Unless a king is named, king Henry the 4th has been mentioned. So I now know it’s about 1367.

A depressed Lair with a scar on his face has become a recluse, but his mother insists a painting be done to be placed besides his late fathers. Stephan is not happy but concedes to her wishes. The daughter of the artist who painted the late Laird is now called upon to do the Stephans. Ansyl is thrilled at the opportunity to do it and the money received will help them out and hopefully get a healer for her ill father. They really got off on the wrong feet at their first meeting and neither had hoped to see each other ever again. Of course, events happened, and they fell in love. But with suspense, attempted murder and hatred from another, it was a long road for them. This was a fun book to read. A little wordy and drawn out, but a good book.

I agree. I really enjoyed the first few books, but I felt as if the writer lost her way as the series progressed.

This book has a lovely and unlikely heroine, and as always, the drama and romance are top-notch :-)

Book 1 The Warrior Knight and the Widow. Braeden Leofric and Ellen’s story
Book 2 Under the Warrior’s Protection
Katherine Leofric and Jarin Earl of Borwyn story.
I am now starting to read book 3

Linota Leofric and Erik Ward story

(This is supposed to be tomorrow, but I think it might have already begun so I am posting it a little early!)

Marquess of Malice is the second in the series. Isn't the cover gorgeous?

Old book from Doubleday 1947. Set in the Dutch East Indies three centuries ago. Evert Hann has made himself wealthy by black market trading and selling of nutmeg. Which grows in abundance in Banda. He needs a wife to grace his home, give him an heir and entertain. His half-brother remarks of the beautiful women Annabet. Piet goes to find her and claim to get her to be Everts wife. She is not how Piet remembers her. And great illness has left almost crippled and ugly. But the glove marriage has been arranged and she is married in her town by proxy. Her arrival in Banda is not what Evert expected. He is appalled by her and makes arrangements for Shal Ahmi, an odd sort of medicine man, to have her killed after he leaves the island. This book is full of twists and turns and circumstances pop up out of nowhere. It does get confusing at times and lengthy. But all in all, a good "old" book.

Rebecca has found herself in an arranged marriage to the brother of the man she really loves. Although she has known both brothers since she was a child, Andrew has always held her heart and the two are so compatible. Charles is the next in line for Duchdom but only wants prestige. Caroline is like a sister to Rebecca. Caroline is her companion and best comfiadant. When Charles is murdered, Rebecca is pointed to the one who did it. Yet, Andrew is the one thrown into jail and accused by his long lost uncle who would love to be the next Duke. So many twists and turns in this story. Much suspense and mystery. I gave it a much lesser review as I was not able in any way to get the extended epilogue. I feel if an author wants an honest review, the extended epilogues should be accessible.
