Lady Rowena Morgan is sent to an Abbey to punish her for her misbehaviors by her abusive parents. She is tortured by the head nun there for years. She is brought back home unexpectedly by her parents to be married off to a supposedly brutish Scotsman in her sister's place after her sister has disgraced herself. Oscar Burns, Laird of MacLeod, is not what Rowena heard about. She finds him more kind and compassionate than is made out to be. But someone is trying to harm Rowena on her trip to Scotland and once inside the clan. Rowena has many ugly scars from her torture at the abbey on the outside and many emotional scars. This book has many twists and turns, suspense and intrigue, and very steamy romance. I was surprised by the whodunit but more so by the ending and both epilogues. Rowena had come to be a very loving, forgiving, and caring person so I found the ending quite disturbing for me. I couldn't accept that resolution to the problem. Rowena had been tortured at the Abbey. This is why I didn't give it a 5-star review. I would still recommend the book.

Lord William De Claire, is a wealthy Baron who was jilted once when his fiance' left him for a man with a higher title. Love is not for him, but he needs an heir. Miss Bridget Hampton, the oldest of the three daughters is in her third season and is tired of the boring suitors. She knows she must marry and knows that love is not for her. When William asks to her dance at a ball, they are both completely honest with each other and their intentions. Honesty is something they both find attractive in one another. It is a quick marriage and Bridget finds herself in a strange place with a non-receptive sister-in-law. Sparks of all kinds begin to fly. I found this to be a delightful short story. A wholesome romance, mystery and fun. I would have enjoyed a full length story of the characters. I would definetly recommend this book for a quick, fun read.

The series is about 3 women who were married to the same man but didn't know about the others until the husband dies, and now they are all dealing with the fallout. In book 1, the 3rd Mrs falls for the investigator into the suspicious death. In this second book, the 2nd Mrs falls for the brother of the polygamous man. So far, I am really enjoying it - Jess Michaels writes good stories with interesting plots; there is usually some mystery/intrigue; and steamy goodness!

Lady Esther Lockmore has always looked forward to her first Season and falling in love. Now because of her fathers gambling and mothers expensive tastes, Esther is forced into her Season to find a man with the highest title and most money. Not only to save her parents, but to be sure that her younger sister Caroline is secured in her life. Esther will stay in London with her awful Aunt and her dowdy cousin who is also starting her first Season. Hugh Warriver, Duke of Hallowbinder is tired of women using their ways to try to ensnare him only for his title and money. He has no intentions of loving a woman, but he needs an heir. Until he runs into Lady Esther at the first ball of the Season. Literally! Esther berates him for not watching where he is going, not knowing who he is. After her cousin tells her who he was, she needs to find him and make amends. Romance begins until a terrible day.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a sweet historical romance with some mystery and suspense. I thought it was written brilliantly. I would definitely recommend this book.

Two women were separated at birth because the parents couldn't afford twins. Linnet stayed with her parents in their humble village and had all sorts of freedoms. Arabella was adopted by a Duke and Duchess not far from the village and was taught to be a lady. Until one day when they came face to face and discovered the truth. Arabella's handsome guardian Henry, who is now the Duke after the deaths of the ones that adopted her has taken Linnet into his household. A romance blooms between Linnet and Henry. Arabella has her eyes on a local villager. It was a good storyline but became too drawn out and I found myself scanning pages. then in about the middle of the story, the author threw a whole new subplot in which not only didn't fit in the story but threw the whole thing off. I also couldn't download the extended epilogue in either way that was given by the author. That is why I only gave it a 2-star review. It's too bad because it could have been a wonderful story.

A simple country girl Betty, who is the maid of a society women, Lady Pebbleton has been made by her employer to dress up as her for a masquerade ball to get some information regarding the enthralling bachelor, the Earl of Bembroke. This single night turns into a most enthralling for both of them. Like Cinderella, Betty loses her beautiful bracelet in the hands of the Earl, William Nightbridge. He is so taken by this woman, that he dresses up as his butler to return the bracelet to Betty. "Oh what a terrible web we weave.....". As Williams mother and aunt try to force a marriage situation onto William, it is non other than Lady Pebbleton. The web begins to unravel. This was the most enjoyable book I have read in a while. I enjoyed it so much I read it in three days. The characters were so well established and fun. I can't say it was believable, in which, that people in lower rankings, including Betty wouldn't really know the this butler the Duke was impersonating. But still, what a fun book to read. I would give this way many more stars review than 5. A beautiful, sweet historic romance

Helen Walker was an orphan and left when she was 15 to fend for herself..can take care of herself. She can shoot a gun and can play poker with the best of all men. She isn't afraid of anyone.
Daniel Winchester is the son of the town preacher. He comes upon Helen and a man in the ally by the saloon and finds he needs to rescue her. Something of which she wanted no part of and let him know adamantly. After speaking with her he offers her a place to stay until she moves on. Helen finds that a happy and loving home life Daniel has is something she would love. Daniel shows Helen that her life doesn't have to be on her surviving and going from one to another. He helps her learn that her God is there for her. Helen learns the love of the Father can change hearts and minds forever and that yes, she can have a happy home. It was a good book, but a bit too preachy for me.

Louisa Stone grew up in an orphanage and know's how the people of society see people differently. She is grateful for her job as a maid in the Westwood Estate. She works hard, has food to eat, and a roof over her head. At night she enjoys sitting outside in the gardens. Isaac Montagu, the Duke of Westwood, has a bitter heart from his crushing heartbreak. He keeps to himself and is not interested in the ton and their society gossip and gatherings. Everything changes in these two people's worlds as soon as they both meet. Louisa is the calm to his battered ego and heart. But, they both realize the roadblocks ahead. Then to make matters worse, a person from Issac's past rears their lovely, but evil head. The storyline of this book was fantastic. But I didn't find Louisa's character very well defined. It would have been nice to have read more about her past in the orphanage and that transition to being a maid. For all she had been through, I found her very immature. I felt the Duke acting like more of a rake, taking advantage of her physically. I love spicy romance, but this was overdone. I found it boring after a while reading about their touchy-feely thoughts and actions. The editing on Kindle was ATROCIOUS!! It ruined the whole book. Using the wrong names for the characters, words missing, replaced, or spelled wrong. And the 'pièce de résistance' was that I never got to read the extended epilogue. The link the author had at the end wasn't even for this book! Maybe the hard copy is better.

A story of Lady Henrietta Lockton, the only daughter of Lord Lockton. She is feisty, independent, and determined to start up a Community Library in Wheatley. Her mother was a great philanthropist her self and Hetty is just like her. She wants to help those to be able to read books and be educated. Since her mother's death, her father has been non-supportive, abrasive and voices his opinion openly regarding the difference in classes and how she is wasting her time. She puts out an ad for a librarian, curator for the library. She is determined to see this through. Mr. John Greenly is a scholar and educated young man though not of the upper class. Since his father died, he has to care for his mother and sister the best he can. Working at the British Museum in London, he is finding it not what his goal was. So he responds to the ad and is hired. When Hetty and John meet, the sparks fly. This was a wonderful storyline but I felt it could have been greatly condensed and still be a great book. I found it all too drawn out. Having to relive each episode by both of the main characters. I found myself scanning through pages being bored. Then at the end, it zips through so quickly, feeling like I missed out on some of the story. It was okay, but I found it just too drawn out.

This would have been a very good story. The storyline was very interesting and had so much potential. The story flowed very well until about halfway through. Then it started going every which way, jumping from here to there, and suddenly it was weeks later in the story. I felt like there was no closure to some of the situations going on. It was like the author got tired or bored of writing this book and just wanted to get it finished quickly. I also didn't like the characters very much. Lilah for being once a lady and one who had to work so hard once their father died and left with little was not very intelligent and a big enabler to her scoundrel twin brother. Thomas the Duke, was a creep. Wanted so much to make his marriage work and claimed to love Lilah so much, but spend all his time at the Club with his bastard brother Sebastian. I have read other books by Aria Norton and really enjoyed them. This one I did not.

A fun, historical romance with a touch of spice. A short story of Emma and Hugh. They had a relationship in the past until Emma discovered that Hugh, the Duke was also courting 3 other women at the same time. Hugh was humiliated at a ball when Emma declared this truth to all in attendance. Now it seems that Emma is in dire straights after her father's death and needs a husband. The two are thrown back together. Both want to ignore their true feelings for each other. Instead, there is anger, pain, and bitterness. This was an enjoyable novella. I would have liked it in a full novel to really bring out more of all the characters. Can Hugh handle this feisty Emma? Some editing issues, but all in all a wonderful, quick read.

Lady Myra is forced to marry, but she would rather sit in the library and read. She is forced to go to a ball to look for a husband. Ewan Griffith, the Duke of Tarnton has come out of his solitary life as his aunt declares it is time for him to also marry and produce an heir. Ewan watched his parents both be murdered by a robber as a young child. Then trying to escape was injured and his leg crushed. Who would ever want to be with a man like him? An invalid. When Myra and Ewan finally meet, they find they have much in common and become friends. Friendship turns to love. But someone is trying to keep them apart by posting vicious lies and rumors for all to gossip about. The storyline was great but I felt went on and on too much with, will they, won't they marry. It could have been condensed and still be a wonderful novel. I found myself skimming through parts. I felt the characters were very well defined. I thought the ending was fantastic though. Just could have come sooner. All in all, it was a very good book and I would recommend it.

Prologue to the series. Eloise leaves home after she witnesses a tragedy that will haunt her for years. She goes to New York and finds success and some peace for a couple of years. She falls in love with Stanley but he is amiss that she will not tell him her past and where she is from. This could be the downfall of their relationship. An unexpected letter comes regarding her father and she needs to go home. Her whole past unravels once she is there. It's a great beginning to what I hope is a great series. I read this in PDF form and the editing was atrocious! But other than that, it's a good first read by a new author.

The second short story in the series. Eloise goes back to New York with her fiance' Stanley looking to finally put the past and tragedy behind her. She is hoping for a wonderful life with Stanley, but others have different ideas for her. Stanley's family is less than happy to hear that they are still together and planning to get married. Gloves are off and his mother makes it hell for the two of them. Unexpected arrivals and stabs in the back make this to be an interesting read. Unfortunately? I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride with the story consistently going up and down and up and down. It sped around so fast I couldn't keep track. Everything was so rushed. One minute one thing is happening, then the next you are days, weeks, or months ahead. I felt like I missed everything in between. I am very disappointed as the first story was so fun and exciting. Not sure if I want to give the others a chance.

Anne Wiese lives in a small cottage with her mother. She collects botanicals, herbs, and berries to help her mother as an herbalist and midwife. Anne has no need for marriage as she feels her life is full with her mother. She forages through the forest on the lands of Hillsmeade. The Duke of Hillmeade considers this trespassing and will discipline anyone found. A near tragedy has Anne meeting a handsome, compassionate, naturistic man from the manor. Lord Henry Townshend rescues Anne but introduces himself as the Duke's gamekeeper. They build a unique friendship which of course, turns into romance. It is becoming very difficult to keep this secret away from others. But Lord Henry's father would never allow the future Duke to be associated with some so low in standing. This was a wonderful, clean, historic romance. The characters were so well defined and the setting was just magical. Other than some editing issues on Kindle and not being able to get the extended epilogue from the site noted at the end of the book, I just adored this story. I would highly recommend this book.

Lady Abigail Wallace became blind at a young age at the cause of an accident. She has been isolated and kept from all the fun of the ton. People pity gossiped about and ignored. Although the Duke has tried to find suitors for her, once they know she is blind, they turn away. Her younger sister Harriet is now the obsession of their mother to get her wed. Hugh Richards, the Marquess of Gilingham, arrives at the estate to court Abigail's younger sister. But he is soon taken with the beautiful, independent, charming Abigail. But being as close of sisters as they are, Abigail would never interfere in the courtship of her sister and the Marquess. But the heart is not something you can control sometimes. I like the storyline of this book. I really enjoyed the characters and thought they were well defined. A book of sweet romance, the love of family, and strength and bravery. I felt that the book could have been condensed a lot and still have been a good book. I was a bit taken back near the later chapters in the book when a new, menacing person appears out of nowhere. A lead-up would have been much more effective. All in all a sweet, romantic historical book. I would certainly recommend it as a wonderful read.

Faye finds a wounded soldier one night by her cottage on MacTavish land and being a healer and nurse, treats him. What a surprise to discover he is the Laird of their enemy clan. Dean MacLagain, Laird of Irvine has been trying to rescue his sister from the MacTavish clan after they kidnapped her years ago. Kaye and Dean are in grave danger as soldiers are looking for the Laird to finish what they started. To kill him. To save them both they travel to Irvine. Faye tries to set up a healing post there. Some of the Irvine clan are not very accepting. They think she is a witch. Dean is very captivated by Faye but is also set to marry another woman. So many twists and turns in the story it keeps you on the edge of your seat. It's hard to tell who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. Makes it all the more suspenseful. The only cons I found in the book was, the book was too drawn out and could have been condensed a lot and still have been a good story. The editing on the Kindle version was poor. Many double words and characters' names were wrong in descriptions and sentences. I enjoy steamy romance, but I felt it got old being repeated constantly. I get it! But all in all an enjoyable read. Love those Scottish men!

The story of a young woman Hildred, who has lived with the guilt and trauma when her mother was killed in a carriage ride when she was a young child. Her brothers friend Stephen has returned after serving in the army to become Duke after his fathers death. Hildred has been in love with Stephen since she was a child. Now to find after a masquerade ball, that possibly Stephen has feelings for her. But their relationship is far from easy. Neither know if Hildred's brother Radford will approve of his courting her. Stephen's mother has another woman in mind for the Duke as a Duchess. Which happens to be Hildred's best friend. There is also certain people who are out to cause trouble for all. There were many twists and turns in this book and I found many never had a resolution to them. It seems much was skipped over. The flow was long and monotonous at times. To much repeating of dialogues and feelings descriptions. Could have been condensed a lot and still have been a good book. There wasn't any substance to the characters. I would have enjoyed more detailed information on them. I also found the dialogue very sappy. Not one of my favorite books by the author. I found it very lacking.

Savanah Connor is working as a woman's rights activist in the small town of Pilot Isle, North Carolina in 1898. She has the whole town in an uproar and Zachariah (Zach) Garret the constable is the one who is called on to stop this crazy woman. Zach is a widower raising his son Rory and has made it clear to the world that he will never marry again after losing his wife and unborn child. Sparks fly in more ways than one between Zach and Savanah. Two people who are like oil and water but seem to mix under the sheets. When researching the physical relationship, they agree to a friends-with-benefits situation! But of course this is fiction so we know pretty much the end results of that. What I really liked about the book was strong, independent woman Savanah was and already bringing up women's rights in this era. I really loved the main story line of the book. I enjoyed extremely the constant bantering and arguing between Zach and Savanah. The cons for me were, I never felt like the story was during the 1890's by the accepted behaviors of the characters, their dialogues, the description of the surroundings. I felt more like I was in the 1990's. More of the historical would have been better. The hot chemistry of the two took too much away from the story. It got rather boring to me after a while reading every lustful thought they were having and every hot activity they did. I felt their physical activity was not something to build a strong relationship on so it didn't really seem like a "love" story to me. I enjoy sizzle in my books, but not when that is really all that there is. On the PDF form, there were many errors in editing. I did not read the first book, but felt this is a stand alone book. It was okay, but I like more substance to my books. Being generous with a 3 star review.

Claudia has been isolated for much of her life by her father, the Earl of Winley. Her only two good friends are her lady's maid Ettie and her aunt, Lady Abermale. Lucas is the son of a baron, but has chosen his road in life of Apocathary. They meet when Claudia goes into the village to his shop for a rash on her hands. They find they both have much in common with growing and using plants and herbs and the attraction begins. But Lord Winley has invited to eligible men to their home in hopes to find a suitable husband for Claudia. One is a very suspicious man, Merroway. He puts everyone ill at ease except the Earl. And what ever happened to him? I was left dangling on his story at the end. The story line of the story was very good, but the two main characters seemed to be very naïve for their ages. I found the repetition tedious and I found myself scanning through much of the book. I felt it read like and old "Dick and Jane" book with dialogue and descriptions so broken. It was a very slow read for me. Not one of her best writings in my opinion. 2 star review

Camelia is broken hearted, dismayed, withdrawn, empty and now the wife of Luke, the Earl of Felixstowe. When a supposed accident occurs that takes Camelia's memory away, Luke again discovers the wonderful woman he once knew and loved before they wed. And Camelia, not remembering her past, falls hopelessly in love with her husband after pushing him away after they first wed. Luke has taken Camelia to France, a place she has always loved, for her to heal and hopefully jar her memory. Along with them is Luke's brother Jonathan and Camelia's evil sister Rebecca. In the marriage contract of Luke and Camelia, her father made sure that they now were to care for Rebecca and she must live with them. Believe me, neither one of the woman are very happy for this arrangement. This book was so full of intrigue and suspense, it was difficult to put down. All of the characters were strong and well defined making this an exciting fast reading book. Full of lies, deceit, jealousy, sibling rivalry, spicy romance and the great descriptions of the history of France and England. All the dialogue and descriptions made you feel like you were right there watching the whole story unfold. I just loved this book and would certainly recommend for adult reading. i would give it more than a 5 star review if I could.

Rosalind, her brother Bertie and her mama left London after the death of her father. Once well to do in the London society, Rosalind finds herself just trying to get enough food and care for them now. Mama isn't all that well and Bertie is hiding from the law. While searching for food she comes across an injured man who has been thrown from his horse. Rosaline gets her friend Eira and her mentor Oma who are good in herbal healing for help with the stranger. Henry Orson, the Earl of Linwood has very little memory of his life. He does know though how he is feeling to this forest elf, Rosalind. Somehow he knows he has no desire to go back to his former life. Then begins all the twists, turns, mystery, intrigue and suspense in the story. The characters are diverse and it makes the story very action packed and interesting. All of the different characters bring depth and dimension to the story. The extended epilogue answered many questions I had after the ending of the book. Except! I had hoped the author would have touched on again about Henry's parents. This was such a fun and delightful book to read. A wonderful historical romance with just a touch of spice.

Ellen and Alice have been the best of friends growing up in an orphanage together in Boston. Alice has accepted a marriage proposal by a man in Texas she has never met. Because the two are inseparable, Ellen will go to Texas with Alice to try and get her situated in her new life. Alice's husband Jeffrey does not want Ellen living with them. So Alice, being the adventurer, comes up with a scheme to keep her close to Alice once she is married. Ellen will dress up as a male and work on the ranch. Ben is Jeffery's main rancher and hopes someday to have a ranch of his own. Ben runs into Ellen in town while she is buying men's clothing but doesn't know about it. He finds her alluring and attractive. Ellen, aka, Allen work well together, and Ben is teaching the new green horn about ranching. When Allen changes back into Ellen to visit Alice, Ben always seems to be at the house. They have an attraction towards one another, but Ellen isn't ready to divulge her true identity. Confused yet? This book had many twists and turn and suspense. How and when was Ben going to discover the truth? The author did a wonderful job describing some of the ranch life and how hard it really is through the workings of a woman. How clever. I thought it was fun to read. A sweet, mail order bride romance. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 review is because editing issues on Kindle. But I would still recommend it.

Daring and the Duke: The Bareknuckle Bastards #3 (Sarah MacLean) -->

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YKY2RFT

Lady Caroline is the only daughter of Lord Zachary Catoghan, Governor of Epsom. Her father is matching her for marriage with Lord Finley Rashford. Someone Caroline detests. She runs into an old acquaintance, someone she has cared for since childhood, Lord Oliver Russell. Of course, Oliver is no longer known as a Lord after is father squandered away everything by gambling, leaving the Lord Catoghan stripping him of his home, status, etc. Sparks fly in all ways for the two of them. Her social status and his disgrace bring turmoil to their relationship. I found this story a fun, clean, romance. Many twists and turns and a fast read. I enjoyed Caroline's independence and the way she stands up for herself and Oliver.

Laura Stewart has lived a horrible life. Watching her mother being murdered when she was a child and then being thrown into a monastery for her remainder days. She has to escape and live her own life and find out who her parents were. Fergus MacCarthy has been being trained to be Laird all his life by his unemotional, uncaring, strict father. But by rescuing the English Laura, he finds his life is about to be turned upside down. He promises Laura he will help her find her father and protect her for someone who is chasing her. The characters of this story are well defined and believable. The author made me feel like I was right there in the midst of the story. Friendship, spicy romance, mystery and suspense and a someone coming into their own, made this a wonderful story. It was a different twist to a historical Highlands romance and one I enjoyed reading. Leading up the end was exciting and unexpected. I would certainly recommend this book for adults.

Lady Maxine Montague has her maid Rose dress up as a noble to go out into society to find out more regarding her ex-fiancé and his new wife. Lady Montague was left humiliated when Lord Glenburn ran off with another lady right before their wedding. Rose is wondering what will be gained by doing so, but she has been the Lady's maid for many years and is devoted to her. Rose is a lovely young woman, intelligent and witty, but not of the same class. So when she befriends a handsome Duke, she dreams of what if would be like to be with such a man and have a dream life. But she knows that is not possible. Yet, she continues to sneak out to meet with him. But everyone knows this will all come crashing down when she is discovered. This was a wonderful clean story. A fast read with some suspense and mystery included. The characters were strong and most of them likable. I felt the historical part got lost at times though. At the balls, if you danced with someone more than twice, you were usually engaged. Some of the wording and furnishing descriptions were not period correct. I felt the book could have been condensed and still be a good story. I felt I was skipping over thoughts and descriptions to get to dialogue. But all in all, a delightful story.

Lady Odile Walker was an obedient daughter to her sick father and her sister Harriet. Getting close to spinsterhood and her sister being married before her, her awful uncles has her to marry the so called worse person before he dies and her uncles becomes Baron and takes everything from them. Frederick Pinkerton, the Duke of Oldingham is a mysterious man with an unseemly reputation. So Odile is quite afraid of what is to become of her. To her surprise, they seem to get along quite well. But someone is now trying to kill the new Duchess. This was a great story line but I felt it was lost with so many characters to keep track of, lack of knowledge of the time, repetitive dialogue and descriptions. The characters didn't seem well defined. I would have liked to known more about their pasts. i found the dialogue to be too sweet and sappy for me. Much duplication of dialogue and descriptions in the story. I quit counting how many times "dearest" was used. I didn't care for it.

A story of how a broken axel on the Duchess and her aunts journey home, throws her and a mere farmer together. Andrew is a hard working farmer who comes to the aide of Lady Teresa Colborne and her aunt when their carriage breaks down by his farm. The roads become impassible when a heave story goes through. Needing to wait for Andrew's friend Lucas to get through to get the parts needed to fix the axel, the women are made to stay in Andrew's home. He knows it is improper for them to be staying there as from what he can see, they are certainly upper class. Rose, the housekeeper/cook is far from pleased they are there. Lady Teresa is enjoying the country life and being away from her demanding parents and her soon to be arranged betrothed, whom she despises. Lady Teresa has taken it upon herself to help with chores and learn about farming from Andrew. After the two become attracted to one another, she is learning much more steamy intimate things also from Andrew. This book was very enjoyable and the characters were strong and amusing. Lady Teresa was more courageous then she believed she was. The only negatives were, editing issues and the repetitive dialogues and description. A spicy, romantic and sometimes funny book. I would recommend it.

Chase and Ray from Colorado have been hired to take Professor Warrington and his adventurous daughter, Lisa-Jo into the Rockies to find the elusive treasure, The Sky Chest. They get a expedition together and find a lot of mystery, suspense, romance, good guys and bad guys. This book was difficult to put down. I was drawn in immediately with the independence and intelligence of Lisa-Jo, the curses and clues of the chest. A romance, of course, starts up between Chase and Lisa-Jo, but during the expedition and its dangers was no time to pursue it. The characters in this story were all unique and so important. Strong, well defined and believable. I just loved it and would certainly recommend it to those who enjoy historical western romance with mystery and suspense. I only wished the author would have spent more time describing the cities and the times then the constant "feelings" the two had. The only cons I had were, it needed to be edited better and it took me along time to finally find the Extended Epilogue. The link on Kindle didn't work. Loved this story though.

Emma has loved her brothers best friend for years. Yet, now that they are older John is either very tentative or very cool towards her. To the lengths of refusing to dance with her at a ball. John has had feelings for Emma since a time when they were younger and he pulled her out of the river. Neither one will admit their feelings towards one another so it only seems reasonable that her brother Arthur has blessed a betrothal to another man for her. Arthur feels Lord Anthony to be a good match for Emma, but John knows otherwise. Arthur is also interested in Emma's bestfriend, but she is not of noble birth. This back and forth situation kept me waiting for more. This was a clean, suspenseful and romantic, historical romance. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

What a wonderful story! Eveyln has always been teased, and sometimes cruelly, by brother Christopher and his friend Duncan. Now with Christopher getting ready to marry, Duncan and Evelyn have been thrown together at Hobton Manor to help with the wedding festivities. Evelyn loves her freedom and is not happy of all family members staying there. After being repremanded by their parents for thier behavior, Evelyn and Dincan have called a truece. Unbeknowst to them, they find they have other feelings beside loathing of each other. As this romance begins, Evelyn is told she is to be betrothed to another. Elmer is an odd sort but Evelyn feels she has no choice. Then a roller coaster ride of suspense and mystery begins with Duncan becomming gravely ill. The author drew me into this story immediately. A clean romance with many twists and turns. Half way through I knew who the bad guy was, but it never took away from the exitement. The characters were so well defined and story so well written. I would definetly recommend this book.

Laura loves the outdoors and riding her horse. She has a special gift when it comes to horses. So it is no wonder that when she comes across a runaway horse, she is able to befriend it and soothe it. The owner is none other than the Duke Owen Ellis of Blackmoor Manor. Owen would rather be out riding his prize horse than anything else. So to come upon a beautiful woman who loves horses as much as he does and has such a remarkable way with his temperamental horse seems like a dream come true. But the two beings of different stations, it is highly unpermitted for them to become romantically involved. Owen is also to marry another. So he has Laura come and care and train more of his horses. This of course does not sit well with his mother or fiance'. Lady Sophia is Owen's cousin and she and Charles are the only two best friends he has, other than Hermmes his horse. This is a beautiful, clean, historical romance. Filled with the love of family, friends, romance, and sometimes suspense. It was a fast, delightful fast read for me. There were some editing issues but never took away from the book. I would definitely recommend this book.

Marian has withstood sadness and tragedy for a lot of her life. She has no recollection of her past when she is taken off a boat in Ireland at about 12 years old. All she has is a pendant with the name "Marian" on it. Adopted by the baker and his wife and also cared for by a rich Marchioness, she has a good life. But when her fiance' dies a week before her wedding years later, Marian realizes she must leave all the sadness behind. She takes on a Governess job for a widow and his child. Erick Sullivan, a Marquess lost his wife, and Marian and Erick find support and understanding of what is it like to lose someone they love. The book continues to evolve the two and their growing romance. Yet, both have the guilt of not being faithful to their departed love ones. There is some suspense and mystery towards the end. It was a bit slow at times and dragged, and I feel it could have been condensed and still have been a good story. A clean, historical romance.

Nora was raised by the Comanche's when she was found after her family was killed when their cabin was burnt to the ground. Now, as a young woman, she wants to know what caused the fire and if her parents were buried. On returning to her former home, she meets Theo Anderson, the nephew of Racer, who owns the ranch of which Theo is now a foreman. Nora finds out quickly from Racer and others that she isn't welcome there with all her questions. Theo wants to help her find out what she wants to know but also is finding his uncle and other farmhands secretive and untrustworthy. As they search they find themselves in such grave danger. This is a fast-moving story with romance, intrigue, suspense, and mystery. The only con I had was, having to re-read the same things that happened and feeling from two different narratives. It was tedious many times. But all in all, a wonderful historical romance/suspense.

A clean historical romance. Lydia Seabrook wants nothing other than to be a writer. Her grandmother and mother were. But her father wants her to settle down and marry the Duke of Moreland. Someone Lydia abhors. She makes a deal with her father to give her a year to see if she can become an accomplished writer. Darius Frost is hired to tutor Lydia. Darius has no love or trust for the upper crust after what happened to his father. But he needs the money to survive and to care for his brother and his family. The storyline was very good, but I felt the author got away from the regency era. There didn't seem to be any family history other than her mother and grandmother were writers. I would have enjoyed learning more about the heritage. I found the book to be very drawn out and repetitious. I found myself continually scanning pages and pages.

Margot McCann's brother, Andrew, and heir to the Clan has been killed and now she is forced to find a husband to be named Laird. Man-at-arms to the late Laird, Zak Wilson has been appointed to protect Margot and to find her a suitable husband and new Laird. Margot wants nothing to do with Zak from the way he always treated her growing up. Although every time a suitor comes to call, Zak finds something wrong with them and sends them on their way. Margot doesn't realize that Zak's feelings for her have changed since they have grown up. This book had a wonderful storyline and it was exciting, spicy romantic, and suspenseful. I really enjoyed it except the spicy sex scenes got to be too much and boring after a while. I found myself skipping through them after a while.

Hester Cooke had many dreams until her brother died and her father became ill. Now she is a lady's maid for a horrendous woman. Lady Haddington is obsessed with Hugh Ridlington. She sends Hester to go to his estate as a maid to spy on him to see how she can find a way to nuzzle into his life and get in the good graces of the Earl. Hugh has no desire to court, going to balls, or marriage. He watched his parent's awful relationship and swore he would never do it. But he found this new maid, Hester, very interesting and intriguing. Hester is only doing this for the two payments she will receive to help her family out. But there becomes a connection between them. Of course, it all comes to light in the end and it isn't pretty for all concerned. I found this story just so much fun. All of the characters are strong, entertaining and the author does such a wonderful job intertwining them. It isn't a "clean" story per se, but what is spoken about and implied is very tastefully done and part of the story. I would absolutely recommend this book. I would give it more than a five-star review if I could.
