Oh, yes. Definitely. This seemed to be a way for Bryant to satisfy himself that he has been told it isn't true so he doesn't have to keep anything from Kim, but at the same time, it is obvious that they both know it is the truth and will never tell anyone.
Yes, it seems to be the "cone of silence" here. It is subtly acknowledged without the need for further dialogue about it. The two men take it on board and move on showing a considerable amount of empathy and maturity in that decision.
DCI Woodward's involvement in Kim's past surprised me. It explains a lot. So many people couldn't understand his decision to put Kim on his team, but he knows her better than other station commanders. I like both of these men and their willingness to let Kim reveal her secrets in her time.
Woodward has followed her career. I liked learning that. And yes, definitely an "understanding" between these two men.
