Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reads/reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their readers in a format the reviewer can manage. Everyone must be able to provide and accept PDF. You may buy or borrow the books you are due to read if you wish, and I’m sure the author will appreciate the verified review, but IT IS NOT COMPULSORY. There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines.

All reviews must be posted to GR. We also encourage members to post on Amazon. When you have posted your reviews, please post the links to each of your reviews, not the book page in this thread.
The mod of each round will record whether members have posted reviews on Amazon and for the good of all, members who persistently fail to post reviews or DNF reviews to Amazon, will find mods less than willing to add them to subsequent groups.

Postings to other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

To exchange book files, my advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum).

Setting up and modding these rounds is a labour of love, with a lot of emphasis on the ‘labour’. If you want to show appreciation for all the hard work we admins put in for the group, you could download one of our books as a ‘thank you’.

Happy reviewing, everyone :)

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Please read this if you are new to these review rounds.

Quick 'start-up' summary for anyone new who might be scratching their heads. You are reviewing the four books 'below' you on the list.

If you can, please choose to buy some or all of the books - or read the books on KU, if you are a subscriber and the books are available there. If you can buy it adds weight to your review as it gives the 'Verified Purchase' stamp on Amazon. If you are obtaining your books direct from Amazon either through purchase or KU please post to say so.

However, as not everyone can buy, you should PM the four people who will be reviewing you (the four above you on the original list of names) through their Goodreads author pages. Click on the down arrow beside the 'Follow Author' button under their picture and it opens a menu which will allow you to message them.

Ask what kind of file they would like or say you can only offer PDF, though unless a publisher uploaded it for you, you can always download a .mobi of your own book from Amazon.

Don't forget to ask where to send it so they can give you their email.

The four people who you are reviewing should be in touch with you in a similar way or post on the thread to say they are getting your book directly from Amazon.

Please make sure you have exchanged ALL FOUR books - or have been assured by your reviewers they will buy your book or read it through KU - as soon as possible. Some people read fast and it can be very frustrating to have to wait a long time to get hold of a book you are committed to review.
Don't forget to post the links to your reviews here so you can be signed off for them.

Please post your review to Goodreads, your own Amazon store and any other Amazon stores you might have access to as well.

The wonderful Kat Kinney will be modding this round so PM her with any issues ongoing, please.

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Just to ask everyone who is down to review me to be a little patient as Trust A Few will be available FREE to downloads directly from Amazon from Wednesday for five days.

I hope this is not too inconvenient for anyone.

Gene, Mary and Kristian - no need to get in touch, I have your books directly from the Zon, purchased or on KU. :)

message 66: by Frank (new)

Frank Parker | 82 comments Hi all. My book is not available in e-format at Amazon who currently only have the paperback. You can access an epub from Lulu via my publisher's website (the link I posted above). I am trying to ascertain how to convert the original Word file to .mobi. I read that this can be done using Calibre but that failed. I shall keep trying.
Meanwhile, it is my intention to purchase all the boks I am scheduled to read. I have Seeds of Change (my 2nd read) which is permafree. I also have just purchased The Morning Star (my first read.)

Frank, is it just a regular Word file, nothing weird about it? What happens when you try to convert the file in Calibre? In the meantime, can you create a PDF format for people who cannot read epub format?

E.M. Swift-Hook | 3487 comments Frank wrote: "I am trying to ascertain how to convert the original Word file to .mobi. I read that this can be done using Calibre but that failed. I shall keep trying..."

If the issue is simply using Calibre this is how you do it:
(1) Click the 'Add Books' top left (looks like a green book)
(2) This should open a window where you can browse through your computer to find the file you want to convert. Click on it and it will automatically add to Calibre.
(3) Click on the 'Convert books' Icon (brown book on top bar)
(4) On the conversion screen. Top left. Select what format you are converting from.
(5) Top right select what file type you want it to convert to.
(6) Fill in the details: Title & Author only needed.
(7) Upload a cover if wanted by clicking the folder icon by the 'Change cover image' box in the central pane of the window.
(8) Check the details are all correct.
(9) Click the 'OK' button bottom right.

That should do it. The final file will be saved to you Calibre Library folder which usually creates itself under 'Documents' on your computer.

Hope this helps. But if you are still struggling let me know and I'll let you have my email and then I can convert it for you and send it back ;)

I would strongly advise you to remove your email from public view, Frank, and to follow the advice I gave in Message 61 on how to contact those people who are reading you.

message 73: by Kat (new)

Kat (katwiththehat) | 2277 comments Hi all! Be sure to use the Goodreads private messaging function to send personal information (beneath the person's profile pic on their profile page, where it says "follow author", click on the arrow and select "send message.")

Please make sure that everyone who is to read your book this round has a copy of your book and is set to go.

Please also ensure that you have obtained a copy of all 4 books you need to read this round (either by getting a copy from the author, or if you'd prefer, by picking up a copy yourself through KU or purchase--not required but always a lovely thing to do.)

Thanks and happy reading!

Frank, you should be down to review 4 books. You can double-check in message 60 of this thread who still needs a copy of your book, and whose books you will be reading in case you may have inadvertently missed one (I know there are a lot of names!)

Amazon will not allow me to review from either of my accounts - it says we are not accepting reviews of this product from this account. not sure why. Could it be because I followed the author? Can I put a review on Bookbub for you or somewhere else?

Hi Charles!

You are assigned to review the following authors: Phillip, Laura, EM and Gene.

These authors are reviewing YOU (so they are they ones you need to contact and make sure you've sent them a copy of your book): Kristian, Frank, Gita (Willow already got a copy and reviewed it.)

Is there an alternate site where Willow can post the review like BookBub?

Jacqueline, we would love to have you join a reading round. Unfortunately, this one is already full, as all others are at the moment, I believe. But not to worry, new rounds open every month or so. Check back or set your group notifications to get updates and look for a round that says "now forming" in the thread title.

In the meantime, I invite you to check out our one-for-one list. There's no waiting. You select a book off the list that interests you, contact the author to get a review copy, then once you post your review, your book will be added to the list for others to review.
