Hannah | 47 comments Hi Everyone,

I've been watching the Netflix show Cursed based on the
book of the same name

It made me want to seek out more Arthurian retellings that are "Arthur adjacent" (Arthur is not the main character). In particular, I'd love to read the perspectives of minor-ish characters, bonus points if they are women.

I've read the Mists of Avalon series many years ago and had a look through some of the lists on Goodreads like these:

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/9...

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...

What are your favorites from this genre?

Thanks!

Robert (ricroscupshigh) | 540 comments Down the Long Wind, by Gillian Bradshaw. - "Gwalchmai is the son of the warrior King of the Orkneys and the cold, beautiful, witch-like Queen Morgawse. Forced to flee from her dark spells, he journeys to Britian where, with the aid of the sword of light and a horse whcih runs like the wind and never tires, he joins King Arthur's battle to rid Britain of dark forces. Though defeated for a time - a time of peace and strength in Arthur's Britian - the forces muster again. Their weapon is the tragic love of Gwynhwyfar for Bedwyr, a passion which is to set the stage for the final battle."

The Dragon's Quest, by Rosemary Manning. - "To compensate for his absence during her summer at the beach, Susan's friend R. Dragon leaves her a special book recalling his life and adventures at the court of King Arthur."

The Prince and the Pilgrim, by Mary Stewart. - "Alexander, nephew of the murderous King March of Cornwall, seeks to avenge his father: but things do not go according to plan, particularly when the young prince's path leads him to the Dark Tower of the sorceress, Morgan le Fay, the evil focus of opposition to the High King Arthur."
