I finally watched Captain America: Winter Soldier and it's pretty good. Good action. Decent story line. Evil Nazis, not withstanding. And, Scarlett Johansen as Black Widow was far more than window dressing.
All in all, lots of fun.

The only criticism: all the technology displayed is 20th Century. In the 21st Century, we have carbon fiber that is harder, stronger, tougher, more fire resistant than any alloy including Captain America's shield.

We have laser cannon that are offensive and defensive weapons, particularly against projectile weapons. The laser cannon that has been deployed in the Indian Ocean since December can intercept cruise missiles, short range rockets, mortar rounds, rocket propelled grenades and torpedoes. In two years, it will acquire a laser cannon five times as powerful which means it can vaporize bullets and since it fires a million pulses a minute, its a powerful defender.

Simultaneously, it can fire at distant targets like supply depots, tanks and soldiers. One problem movies will have is showing the laser in action because its only a tiny fraction of an inch wide yet its stopping everything in mid air as if it never existed. Special effects: uh.

Finally, this year we will see the first space craft land backwards using its thrusters as all the old sci fi movie space craft did.
