Chapter 9: (view spoiler)[ So, 25% in and we're still doing the intros. I like Maeve, and her devotion to her little brother is really heartwarming. She's smart, caring, and I love her sarcasm. Next up, introducing Spellcrest. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 17: (view spoiler)[ Looks like Maeve is fitting in, more or less. Her poor little brother, on the other hand, not so much. He's just got different bullies. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 31: (view spoiler)[ Devon's mother wants to take Maeve's power for her son, and she still trusts him? I know it's not necessarily his evil plan, but still... I don't know what I think of the two of them as a couple... and wearing someone's soul around your neck in a necklace? Ew. (hide spoiler)]

I liked this book. It's not the greatest magic school book ever, but it's interesting enough to make me want to read the rest of the series. Is anyone interested in turning this into a series buddy read?
