Review:
This is a first book for the author for me. It was a cute, easy read. Not terribly in depth with the character development but there were some flashes of good stuff. Long-time fears, insecurities were a little too easily resolved for me to really love the book but I'll keep reading the series. There was a little bit of a cliff-hanger - not for the MC couple but for the overall story arc.

Aww sorry to hear that but totally understand. Good luck with your classes

The Nightlife: New York by Travis Luedke, 164 pages
Qualification: First book in the series, 3 Stars
First let me qualify this review and say that I LOVE vampires and this book was a nice read. Why only 3 stars? I felt it was very by the numbers and had a lot of clichés. Theses faults at time became tedious, to the point where I did skip scenes so that I wouldn’t want to throw the book.
Let me give you an example. Our hero, has an ex-girlfriend who is “the worst”; self-centered, manipulative, shallow. He also has friends who are less that stellar. This situation is the perfect storm to meet the new girl. He’s already been groomed by his ex-girlfriend and his actual friends to accept some truly terrible behavior. If he had been any of person, this wouldn’t have happened.
Example two, the language. Luedke is very OT (over the top) with this description. “She was his confessional, his priest, his savior, his own personal Jesus.” I was on the floor. Amazing… amazingly hilarious! I might have to borrow those lines for RPG night.
So if these two kinds of things don’t bother you; you might like this. It’s a quick read and there’s nothing new or challenging in it.

I liked this book for the mythology and the adventure. I love how it was just a simple farm boy who found the stone and not a wealthy or famous person. The downside to this book is that at times it was very simplistic and obvious that it was written by a teenager. That being said I will continue the series because the adventure was great.

Perfectly understandable, sounds like you've got plenty to keep you busy. No need to worry about finishing your book for this week. :)
Carmen, just submit the remaining five players' reviews and you're good to roll. I'll see about rustling you up a back-up player.

Review: I really liked this book, it was a kind of continuation from PJO but still had a lot of new stuff to keep me hyped for what's to come on the series. I didn't like Piper tbh, not sure why.
Pls tell me I'm not late, yesterday was my birthday and I just had the scare of my life cause the lights went off and I had no way of posting this.

Review: I loved this story. I've owned this book for quite some time and don't know why I waited to read this so long.
I wasn't sure how I was going to like Josie. She was too timid and on certain things a bit naive but when you hear her story you'll understand why. When the woman that she has known as the only mother dies and then goes to the reading of her will, everything changes for Josie. Its when she meets Jake. She also meets his kids, Conner, Amber, and Ethan, who are all great but not as a first sight. As the story progresses it becomes intense, heartbreaking and just so, so good. I couldn't put it down. It was great to see how everything came together and all the secrets that came out.

Fits: #17 in "The Cat Who" series
Review: I found all the towns people are a bit quirky but fun. Jim and the cats, Koko and Yumyum are just too funny but they solved the crime. I guess not reading the first books may not have given me the info I needed of all the characters. The people in the town seem to be close friends so I felt like I've missed some stuff.

Review:
This was a re-read for me, I had lost the thread of this series and wanted to reread it before I picked up the later books again. I remembered it vaguely but not completely so it was somewhat new. I felt like the soap opera clichés were heavy and trite for a book written in 2008 versus say in the 80s or 90s. I also felt like the advancement of the MC couple's feelings for each other was skimmed over so that when the inevitable conflict happened, it was really believable. But the grand gestures by the hero were fun and funny to read. Overall not a horrible re-read.

Keep in mind that teams can only earn one of each bonus point, so even though you had two people read 500+ pages books in week 2, it still only nets you one bonus point.
Pallavi was supposed to be joining you as back-up, but I haven't had any reply to the message I sent her a week ago. If you haven't heard from her by the time the rest of you have your reviews in, go ahead and roll tomorrow. I'll let her know that if she doesn't show, I'll move on to the next player in the back-up list to get you some reinforcements.

The Mongoliad (The Mongoliad Cycle Book 1) by Neal Stephenson, Greg Bear, Mark Teppo, Nicole Galland, Erik Bear, Joseph Brassy, and Cooper Moo
Publication Date: September 25, 2012 – 502 Pages
Qualification: First Book in the Series
This was a truly epic book and an ambitious read. I can see this story being made into a series. This is a fantasy/historical fiction novel that delves into the effects of Mongol control of most of the known world. It takes place in the 13th century.
I love fantasy and historical fiction so that book was right up might alley. I did enjoy the book, but I think it suffers from both “too many cooks in the kitchen and too many ingredients in the stew.”
The narrative is uneven as the authors switch characters and viewpoints. There is a war subplot, an espionage subplot, a secret society subplot, a religious subplot, a mystery subplot, a romance or two… too many subplots! The fact that there are five books in this series is amazing.
I love all the different elements, but it was too much for one book. It was hard to finish because there was too much to keep track of. If I hadn’t been reading it for a challenge, I know that I would have stopped or paused my reading. It’s a shame. I really wanted to love, but there’s too much and it’s tedious.

Dead until Dawn Dead Until Dawn

Rating: 3 stars
Qualification- first book in a series
This is a hard review, because at first I did not enjoy the book at all. It started off slow and I was ready to give up and switch books, but I forged on and I am glad I did. As the book went on I really enjoyed watching them trying to figure out who the murderer was. I enjoyed the subtle rivalry between Bill and Eric. I also enjoyed that foreshadowing that something terrible happened in the family and I am anxious to know what. Although this is not my normal genre of reading I am excited to continue the series. I would give this three stars. It is great writing, but the beginning was slow and it took a while for me to connect.
Everyone, please do include all required elements in your completion posts. I see multiple posts missing parts like author, rating, date read. Minimum review length is 3 sentences.

Sorry, I initially forgot to include the date read and the rating. This is the resubmitted completion review with that information included.

Sorry to hear that, Lu, but if school is keeping you busy the last thing you need is extra deadline stress. Maybe next time things will work out better? :)
Lu dropping out leaves you guys two players down, I hope to get this fixed over the weekend so you'll be back at full strength for the new roll.
