✸ Communication is key. Please make sure to check in regularly with your team.
✸ Let your team know if it looks like you won't get your review posted by Thursday, 11:59pm. You do have all of Friday to submit your review, but it can be intensely frustrating for your captain if they don't know when or if they can expect your review before the deadline.
✸ If you know beforehand that you won't be able to read and review a book during a certain week, you can request a pre-arranged absence from me, either by posting the request in the discussion thread or by sending me a pm. The request has to be submitted before the team rolls for the week in question, can only be approved by me as the mod in charge of running the game, and has to state a reason for the absence. (Reasons for pre-arranged absences can include e.g. going on vacation or work trips, planned hospital stays, exam period, etc.)
✸ If you do not have a pre-arranged absence and won't be able to finish your book in time for an unforeseen reason, please let your team know as soon as possible. If the team has earned the free pass, it can be used to cover the missing review. Without a free pass, the team has to sit out the next roll.
✸ We all know that real life gets in the way sometimes, be it through family emergencies, work emergencies, natural disasters, technical problems making it impossible to get online, or in other ways. That being said, please do keep in mind that this is a team challenge and your team relies on you to do your part unless an emergency occurs.
✸ If you find that the pressure of keeping up with the pace of the game gets too much for you or you wish to stop playing for any other reason, you can drop out of the challenge at any time. In that case, please let your team captain and/or me know that you wish to drop out rather than just disappearing without a word so your team won't be penalized when you fail to turn in your review. Thank you!
Captain's Handbook
✸ The team's captain is its chief organizer. This includes rolling the dice, posting the team's new spot to the team thread and the Post Your Spot thread, collecting links to team members' review posts in a single post to be linked in the Post Your Spot thread, doublechecking that books and review posts comply with requirements, reminding team members to post their reviews in time if necessary, etc.
✸ The captain may delegate some tasks, such as rolling and posting the new spot to the team thread, to another team member if they so choose. (Either a designated roller who fulfills this role every week, or whichever team member is online first once rolling is possible.) Collecting reviews into a single post and posting to the Post Your Spot thread should always be handled by the captain.
✸ Instead of having everything handled by a single team captain, teams can also choose two co-captains to handle the workload.
✸ Selection posts are not strictly required by the game's rules and I won't be checking for them. It's up to the team captain to decide whether they want them.
✸ If the team captain requests a pre-arranged absence, it's their responsibility to arrange for another team member to step in as temporary captain.
✸ The team captain is my primary point of contact for the team and should allow receiving private messages.
Hi, team 6, I'm Meg! I read mostly cozy mysteries, though I slip in regular mysteries, romance and other fiction as the mood strikes. I've always read a lot, but with this mess we're in I've been really reading a LOT. I read pretty much only on my Kindle, and love audiobooks. I still have a ton of paperbacks but the eyes aren't what they used to be so they're nice decor nowadays. I'm also a reading challenge addict, and can't wait for our challenge to get started!
Hello!! I'm Tara and am so excited for this round of SS! I was just thinking a few weeks ago that I hadn't read very many series books this year (I think maybe 5...) and that I needed to get back to my series - and then the next thing I knew this challenge was posted :) I used to read mainly mystery/thrillers, but this year I have REALLY branched out from that and am reading just about anything (although sci-fi and fantasy still aren't really my thing...) Can't wait to "meet" everyone and get some great reading in!

Hello guys, nice to meet you! I am very excited for this challenge. I usually read a lot but because of the whole situation this year I found myself rather numb and not being able to read a lot. I know that sounds weird, I thought I would be able to read even more but somehow this did not work for me at all. So now I am trying to catch up. My main goal is to just finish this challenge and read at least one book a week. I read mostly ebooks and listen to audio books, because they are more convenient.
I do not read that many series so I will probably use the alternate list more. Let's see how it goes :)

I could, but the time to roll makes it difficult for me, (that's 2 am in Chile and I work on weekdays) I could roll on fridays at 6ish am central time.

What will you guys be reading? I think I will reread Jane Eyre, that plays in England, where I have been 2 times so far.
I went through all 583 books on my TBR list and found exactly TWO #10 in a series books...one of which I would have to skip books 8 and 9 to get to, which I don't like to skip around... so I'll be looking for either a #1 or a standalone. I'll be back later when I decide which book :)
I want to read La Casa de los Espíritus by Isabel Allende, but I'm not sure if I'll manage to read it in a week hahaha
I'll be reading Hook, Line and Blinker by Jana DeLeon. By happy coincidence it was next in the series to read!

😄 I had so totally forgotten that I'd even done the challenge once before until I looked at the game board a couple times. Mind is aging!
I think I'm going to attempt Mexican Gothic since I've been to Mexico. I haven't had time to look up specifics, but I'll post better soon.

Review
The premise of this book revolves around a list the MC creates of 8 perfect murders from mystery books. There is a killer recreating all the murders. I enjoyed this book , it was a very easy read. As far as Mysteries go not to surprising. My favorite part was hearing about the mystery books and the murders picked from them. Some of them I have not read, they are on my TBR now.

Review: The adventure continues in this lively series set in small town Louisiana as Fortune, Ida Belle and Gertie dig for clues behind a threat and an attempted murder. The results of the mayoral race are finally settled in this installment, as well, leading to a different type of situation. I absolutely love the bond between the three friends; it really makes the series what it is.

Review:
Fishers narration style is so refreshing, honest, touching. I feel like listening to an old friend in her books. I am so sad that this audio book is over, I am catching myself being completely in love with Carrie Fishers voice and humour. I could listen to her forever. I am so sorry that she passed away. Sadly I do not have anymore audio books of her, so I will probably have to actually read the rest, but I am happy that there is more to read.

Review: I don't really know what to say about this book. I finished it. It was ok. But it's not something that will stick with more and it's not a series I'm likely to want to continue on with. I just found myself not really caring about any of the characters, about the storyline, it was just kind of bland to me-nothing outstanding.

Review:
This was better than expected, I thought I didn't like magical realism, but I think it's only some books hahaha. It's always intimidating for me to read classic latinamerican lit, but I found myself really inmersed in the story and how this family developed throught the years.
I didn't know it talked about the Military Coup and Pinochet's dictatorship in Chile (1973 to 1988) and it was tough to read about it, it is a very dark part of our history.
I think what's most interesting in the book, is how every character is very different from the others in their family, they're all weird hahaha, but everyone in a different way.
Bonus Point: >500 pages.
