I’m glad to get back to this series. I really enjoy the New York atmosphere and talk of food and coffee. There was plenty of family drama in this one. But it was nice to see Clare’s romance with Quinn finally start to heat up. In this one, Clare going undercover was fun and things did get exciting, with Clare’s daughter being accused of murder. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Review: Clare puts on her amateur detective hat again as her daughter Joy is arrested for murdering her former boss and lover after being found with the dead body with her knife used as the murder weapon. I don't know if I'm just not in the mood for this series right now but everyone was annoying me in this entry. Joy was ridiculous for dating a man who was much older than her, married with children, and her boss. She even got expelled from her culinary school once they found out about her relationship with her supervisor. And the guy seemed sleazy as he proved when he told Clare that he wished he'd met her before he met Joy so he could have dated her. Yuck! And then Quinn gave Clare an ultimatum that she had to find a new place to live or he wouldn't date her. The nerve! Just because he's insecure she has to find and pay for a new place to live? Ugh. And Matt is annoying as usual but I haven't liked him since book 1. I was just so annoyed by everyone, so I was glad to finish the book. I might give one more book in the series a try to see if I am less annoyed in the future.

The little snippets where this book really related back to Cinderella were clever and well placed. I thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns that kept stringing me along until the end. The main twist was predictable, but the whole book was very enjoyable nonetheless. Would highly recommend and I cannot wait to finish this series.

Yep, Joy’s married older lover was a creep! And Mike’s insecurities a little too childish. I did enjoy it. Hopefully, the next is better for you. The author gave us a hint what it will be about.

Yep, I had mistakenly read #7 already before this one, so I know what happens with Madame and Matt and that wedding. So I'm aiming to read #8 when we roll into the 80s. I like the coffee info, so hopefully there will be more interesting coffee facts in that one too.

Review: Derek has been sniffing around Karina at Sanctum, but unwilling to do anything with her out of his own whacked out insecurities that of course get pushed onto Karina. However, someone is targeting submissives and Derek (Dallas Detective) has been brought in to be 'pose' as the Dom at the club where this has been happening........and Karina (Private Investigator) has been picked to be his sub. It always surprises me when these alpha males act like teenagers. Granted Derek's ex wife did a number on him and she is a bitch. Karina is able to hold her own - loved what she did to the ex.

How It Fits: #6 The Sullivans
Review
This is the sixth installment in the sullivans series where each book centre's around the love match of one of the Sullivan siblings. This time is the turn of Ryan and Vicki, when Vicki finds herself in an uncomfortable situation she calls on the only person that will drop everything for her, her best friend Ryan. I really enjoyed this as we saw both Ryan and Vicki try and battle their attraction to each other and admit that they have loved each other since they were in high school. I enjoy this series, there is enough angst and turmoil to make it believable and the HEA is a long fought battle to get there.
Need to get back to #4 and #5

Oh Joy.....so typical to have a young girl get swept up by a creepy older man thinking she is the apple of his eye.
Mike and Clare have a lot of footwork left to get their relationship on solid ground.
I’m still awake, so I rolled for us.

How It Fits: #2 Hidden Legacy
Review
I forgot how much I enjoy the writing of Ilona Andrews. This is the 2nd in The Hidden Legacy series where Nevada and Rogan join forces to search out the killer of the wife of one of Nevada`s clients. There is an ice mage on the loose and someone is targeting Nevada and her family. The growing attraction between Nevada and Rogan leads to some electric scenes especially as both are trying to protect each other from harm in their own way.

This was a good enemies to lovers historical romance. I enjoyed the banter between the MCs. And there was plenty of heat between them. There’s some history here about the suffragette movement as well. I will read the next book in the series.

Review: so this was fun, took me a bit to remember who Bridget was since we met her in Serena's book (book #2) in the series. She and Chris were Serena's side kicks in her book. Bridget is a hoot. Will was a bit of a dumb ass mixed with arrogant c*ck as he thought it was a good idea to make it that he was her only hope for a date for her sister's wedding. Her dad is a piece of work and I definietly want to know more about Bridget's sister and her new husband. Ian as always provides comedic relief.
BTW - that is a terrible cover
I’m still reading too. Should be done by Thursday afternoon.

Avenged
Author: Avenged
Qualification: Ruined #2
Date read: 11/19/20
Rating: ★★★
Review: After the huge battle at the end of book 1, both sides are regrouping and seeing who is left alive. Olivia is free and ready to wreak some havoc on Cas's kingdom, but Em tries to hold her in check as she still has hope for peace now that Cas is the new king. Back on Cas's side, his attempts to convince his advisors that the Ruined are not a threat land him imprisoned in his own castle. It was interesting to see if Cas and Em could convince their people that peace was possible, but by the end I found myself a little on Olivia's side, especially after Em gets kidnapped and held against her will in Oslo. I think Em might be a bit too lax on people who want to do her and her people harm. It will be interesting to see how everything ends in the next and final book of the trilogy.

Review: Still love the cats in this series, lol read book 6 last week. And hm.... Marcus seems to have a new special cat as well. I think the antics between Owen and Hercules could stand on their own. They have their own high jinx like a couple of siblings that are really just fun to read.

Since she hasn’t posted an update with an eta on finishing her book, I’d be comfortable with you using the free pass if you haven’t heard back from her in a few hours.

This book was raw and so real. It was heartbreaking to read about a childhood with no roots and such hardship. I can't imagine growing up with parents that mistreated their own kids so much and had such lack of concern for their wellbeing. I am looking forward to watching the movie as I've read very good reviews about it!

Thank you, Steph! Feel better soon!
