Hi there,, in the late 90s I used to read this children book about a little girl that goes to bed but that is taken through a beautiful silver forest, a gold forest, and a diamond forest before she attends a fairy ball and is taken back to bed. It have beautiful illustrations and I can’t remember the name of it. Thank you!

Is it possible it's the same book I found thanks to this group? The Seventh Door by Norman Leach. The description of the forests sound familiar to this book.

It sounds like it might be a version of / influenced by the fairy tale of the Twelve Dancing Princesses. In that story, a prince stays awake to find out where twelve princess sisters go at night. He follows them through a gold forest, a silver forest and a diamond forest to a magical ball where they dance all night before returning in the morning.
