Trip (shardsofromance) | 2210 comments Sweet, im pretty active. But with work now, not as much and been falling asleep early so just thought let know so i don't hold team back.

Lol i don't mind a grittier story every now and then, in fact i love them when done well. Like i can handle horrible stuff at times, torture and dub con etc... I can deal. But the moment i see cheating im out, strange but thats one of my main deal breakers along side main character death and no hea/hfn πŸ˜‚

message 203: by Wende (last edited Sep 18, 2020 02:50PM) (new)

Wende | 1741 comments I hate cheating. I was reading a book a few months ago that was a reread and I forgot David got a bj from someone other than Chris. I was so put off I stopped reading. I could not finish a book I had read seven years ago. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

message 204: by Trip (last edited Sep 18, 2020 02:54PM) (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) | 2210 comments Yeah i know that feel. To this day whenever i think of the time i wasted reading bareback, it genuinely makes me rage... Never again πŸ˜‚

I don't mind if stuff happens when they're not together yet during the book or such, im all for open relationships and such. But going behind partners back and that break of trust just literally disappoints & hurts, ruins character for me.

message 205: by Gustaf (new)

Gustaf | 1936 comments I have a theory about this.

Not saying that it's okay in any way but I think in general gay guys are more open minded to that kind of things in real life. When I was a young gay it was just something that happened. Something that my group of friends was very open about and we spent a lot of time discussing.
I think there's one part in a lot of gay guys lives where the way society sees masculinity and relationship norms gets too much and you just say screw it and do the opposite. So that's probably why I don't really care. Of course it has to be done the right way, some cheating I can't stand.

message 206: by Trip (last edited Sep 18, 2020 03:35PM) (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) | 2210 comments I wouldnt have a clue, but i guess that makes sense so i can see why don't mind it and i know for many people its not a problem.

For me its an honesty/trust thing, but i wouldnt have a clue since never been in long term relationship. Im chill if open and such thats never bothered me, as i have been pretty much myself but i don't consider that cheating as its like agreed arrangement between if makes sense.

Cheating for me is when you have made commitment with person and exclusive etc, then just break trust and do it anyway... So i guess different views on what fits for it i suppose too.

As i have read some poly where they were open and with different people, then developed into more.

MountainKat | 31593 comments Here is Task 3:

8. Read 4 books with a beach on the cover.

What I want to see on the cover is water and the shoreline. The beach can be sand, rocks or dirt - depending on the setting. You can use any edition's cover for your qualification, but remember to use the first edition Kindle page count. Please include the qualifying cover in your completion posts.

message 208: by Wende (last edited Sep 18, 2020 03:36PM) (new)

Wende | 1741 comments I minded because they were married (not legally mind you because of the time) also it was not something David would do. It was like the author had them together so she made them grow apart so the next few books they could work it out. It smacked of a gimmick and I hated it. What was strange is I overlooked it before

message 209: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31593 comments Also, to clarify - I saw some discussion of the timing of getting a new task. The tasks are given no sooner than every other day, depending on when you post team's completion in the Q&A thread. So, you got your task Friday (my time) and can not get your next task before Sunday (again, my time). If you finish on Saturday, I will give the task on Sunday morning. If you finish on Monday, I would give it after confirming on Monday. I do ask for up to 24 hours to confirm your completions, you know in case I ever get a life again...πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

message 211: by Trip (last edited Sep 18, 2020 03:40PM) (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) | 2210 comments Oh thats pretty much similar to Tor and Jake in bareback, what happened with them just to add some angst. Then 2nd book although i haven't read that one. I hate when that happrns just can tell thrown in as cliche. That sucks! I finished Bareback so i managed to push through but yeah i can't anymore...

Gustaf | 1936 comments Task 3: Beach on the cover
Best Foot Forward (Best Men Inc. Book 2) by Zoe Dawn
Title: Best Foot Forward
Page number: 244/gr
How it qualifies: Beach on the cover
Date completed: 19/09/20
Rating/Review: 2 stars

Story: 3 stars
Mc's: 4 stars
Writing: 1 star
Cover: 5 stars

So um. This didn't work for me.
I liked Rusty and Tom. They were great. I was rooting for them. I really wanted their HEA. And they got it. So that's good. Sure, the story was filled with every clichΓ© you expect of a romance book. And sure there was some questionable cheesy scenes that even I thought was over the top. But they got their HEA. If that was all this would have been a three star read. Sadly it's not all.

The author loves her paragraphs.

Seriously.

There's.

A.

New .

Paragraph.

After.

Almost.

Every.

Single.

Sentence.

Okay I might be a bit overly dramatic, but almost. You get the picture.

It's good that I read 8 sh books the first 10 days of September because now I'm having so much to read. And the gang bang hasn't even started yet.

I loved this book. Polly was so funny. She was a young woman who was orphaned and decided to be Ethan the weaver's sister as he was rich. The weaver was not happy but his wife Helen adored his new sister. Crump knew he had no sister but no one except his friend believed him. So that is the story in a nutshell try to get Polly to admit she is lying and Aubrey who is Ethan's friend to help. Of course love came then a runaway marriage.

Not the book of the year but it was okay. My main issue with this one is this goes really fast. Like REALLY fast, pure insta love (and lust). But the 2 MCs are sweet together, and I love their dogs. Riley is the sweetest.
A lot going on in a short book, but I'm good with it because that's what I was asking for.

Trip (shardsofromance) | 2210 comments Im posting mine straight away this month, so that once im done its all finished. As i think im probably be cutting it close again...

I have a notebook and since do reviews straight away, the posts are just a lot of copy and paste for me so not too bad.

I only started doing reviews last winter for a challenge and have kept it up as habit now, grown to love writing them. Although i definitely repeat myself on certain parts in reviews, like my love of happy endings always how i finish most of them πŸ˜‚
