I think I read this book about 3 years ago about 2017-2018. It is a series of books. It's about a young woman who is in college. The beginning of the book starts out with her walking down the street with either her boyfriend or her brother and she stops and stares at a shadow that nobody else can see that's hiding a man. She's always been able to peer into shadows and see men there since she was young. Further into the chapters she's in a car crash with her boyfriend she gets out of the car to walk and get help but they're in a neighborhood that most people don't go in because it's dangerous. As she's walking a homeless person tries to assault her two of The Shadow men step out to stop it, one of them wants to hurt her one of them saved her. They take her back to her house and erase her memories of everything that happened. But she wakes up remembering what happened. I guess bad people find out about her and try to take her so they come and rescue her and take her back to their magical house that nobody else can see and start to train her in her magic. She starts to fall in love with a guy that saved her that's in charge of this magical house community but he doesn't want to like her. She starts taking classes with the younger kids because she's never been trained in magic etcetera. It is a series of books.

I believe it's a new adult book. It has elemental magic in it. There are quite a few books in the series.
