MountainKat | 31598 comments Here is Task 6:

6. Read 4 books with fewer than 500 reviews.

The number of reviews is on the main book page under the title. Select books with fewer than 500 reviews. If your book is at nearly 500 reviews I would suggest you delay writing your own review until after this task is complete or taking a screen shot to verify the qualification. Please include the number of reviews in your completion post.

Review: I love these short paranormal romances. Zed was a delightful character we met in the first book and he was just as charming this time around. I also liked Dani but honestly I didn't think there was as much of a connection between the two as there was with Jillian and Bael from the first book. The suspense was not quite as thrilling either and the conclusion was over pretty quickly. Even with those issues I really found this book delightful and I loved the southern charm of the bayou and Zed's friends and family. I can't wait to read more of them.

The Candle Palace (Jamison Valley, #6) by Devney Perry
The Candle Palace by Devney Perry
Pages: 187 kindle edition
How it qualifies: 408 reviews
Date read: 25 October 2020
Rating:🌟🌟🌟
Review: This is the 6 book in Jamison valley series.
The main male character has a larger supporting role in some of the other books. So it was nice that Milos story was finally told.
The hole book is told by Sara looking back and retelling her own love story.
The story line has all the elements That could create a great romance, but somehow it just did not capture me. I think the first books in this series is much stronger.

The Luthier's Apprentice (Violinist Detective Series, #1) by Mayra Calvani
Book: The Luthier's Apprentice
Author: Mayra Calvani
Pages: 190 per GR kindle ed
How it fits: 50 reviews
Read 10/28/20
Rating: 3 stars

Review: When Emma learns that her violin teacher has disappeared from his locked study, she gets her friend Annika to help her try to find clues. A visit to the study brings her in contact with another student Corey also trying to solve the disappearance. Several events happen involving their families and Emma begins experiencing psychic phenomena. This was a pretty simplistic plot in the YA fantasy genre. Don't think I'll look for the next volume.

MountainKat | 31598 comments Here is Task 7:

29. Read over 750 pages in books about the same profession, teams decide which profession.

As a team select a profession and read books about that profession. Professions such as athlete, law enforcement officer or musician are acceptable. Just don't try to pass off a rancher and a chef as both being in the food industry - they are simply too far apart. Remember to let me know how you know the book qualifies - from the title, series, precis, tags or lists, but I need to know where to look to confirm your books. Just saying 'hero is an athlete' is not enough. Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count.

Shandrea Freeman | 888 comments I am cool with any profession! It’s been a little while since I’ve read about a musician though..

How about Law Enforcement? Shandrea said she'd be open to any and it was one myself, Linda, and Lea all said would work for them. I'll pick a book soon.

message 169: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1699 comments I'm about to start Minutes to Kill by Melinda Leigh and realize it will work perfect for Law Enforcement. If everyone decides to go Athlete rather than Law Enforcement (athlete was the other popular choice) let me know because I can change.

The Scent of Murder (Dr Dody McCleland, #3) by Felicity Young
Book: The Scent of Murder
Author: Felicity Young
Pages: 283 - GR kindle ed
How it fits: MC is Chief Inspector Matthew Pike of Scotland Yard
Read 11/4/20
Rating: 5 stars

Review: Dody is acting as chaperone for her sister, Florence, on a visit to the family home of Florence's beau, Tristam. While there the three conduct an amateur archaeological dig in a riverbed hoping to find ancient human bones. Instead they find a skeleton but only about 10 years old. Dody does forensic study of the skeleton and determines its of a young teenage girl. Chief Inspector Pike is heading through the area after closing a case and upon meeting up with Dody takes on the cold case. This is but one of the several intertwining plots in this volume including family secrets, corrupt law enforcement, and a horrible workhouse. I'm really liking this historical series involving a female forensic surgeon in 1912.

Minutes to Kill (Scarlet Falls, #2) by Melinda Leigh
Minutes to Kill by Melinda Leigh
Pages: 336 (Kindle Edition)
How it Fits: Main Character is a cop "Detective Brody McNamara" in synopsis in MPG
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Date Read: 11/5/20
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Review: I loved this book. With the main character, Hannah, I was a bit worried she would be too stand-offish based on my impressions of her in the first book but she absolutely was not. She was kind and caring and ultimately pretty badass. I liked her a lot and Brody was her equal. The suspense was tense and I was quite worried for the characters. I did miss the cute kids this time around as they went on vacation with Grant and his fiancé and they were missed as they brought in a lighter element needed with such dark subject matter.

Rapture in Death (In Death, #4) by J.D. Robb
Rapture in Death by J.D. Robb
How it qualifies: from précis Police lieutenant Eve Dallas
Pages: 299 kindle edition
Date read: 7 nov 2020

Review
Not the best in death book I have read, I guessed the killer to quickly.
I did find premise interesting, how to commit the perfect murder by manipulating the victim to commit suicide

Shandrea Freeman | 888 comments I’ll be done with my book today. Sorry it’s taking me so long. This book is not good and it’s really hard to read and get into. My reviews of books are usually really positive but this one isn’t.

I know how that is. It gets you to do other things rather than sit down and read. Feels like a job and not enjoyment.

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1699 comments This was fun. I enjoyed the tasks and that there was no pressure to win. I honestly didn't realize we were that close to the end of the challenge as there are so many tasks it could have gone on for longer. Thanks ladies for playing!

Shandrea Freeman | 888 comments Thanks for being so laid back! I am very, very busy but if I wasn’t a part of these groups and challenges I wouldn’t get time to read. I had a good time. I didn’t realize we were so close to the end either.
