We all judge books by their covers (don't deny it). What are some of your favorite book covers?

Michelle I think mine are Bitterblue (Graceling Realm, #3) by Kristin Cashore Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) by Cassandra Clare Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3) by Cassandra Clare Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer The Jewel (The Lone City, #1) by Amy Ewing The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass (the entire series) The Girl of Fire and Thorns (Fire and Thorns, #1) by Rae Carson (the entire trilogy)Just to name a few...

Nuran I don't necessarily think these books are good or bad but I love the covers.

Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate Torment (Fallen, #2) by Lauren Kate Rapture (Fallen, #4) by Lauren Kate Fire (Graceling Realm, #2) by Kristin Cashore The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) by Kelley Armstrong The Witches by Peter Curtis The Gathering (Darkness Rising, #1) by Kelley Armstrong Robopocalypse (Robopocalypse, #1) by Daniel H. Wilson Taste of Darkness (Healer, #3) by Maria V. Snyder Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris Poppet (Jack Caffery, #6) by Mo Hayder

Michelle Covers, mostly for me, is whether or not it grabs my attention. I judge the cover on whether or not I want to know what the book is about. Once I start reading then the cover doesn't matter as much.

Michelle Those are nice covers. I like that version of Fire more than the U.S. one.

Nuran Michelle wrote: "Those are nice covers. I like that version of Fire more than the U.S. one."

Yeah me too, I'm not too sure I would have picked up Fire otherwise, unless I read good reviews about it. The covers do sometimes mess you up, especially if the description of the main character is not the same as the covers. Summoning was one of those covers.

Michelle I hate those covers especially when the covers have a girl or guy on the cover and they don't match the description in the books.

Also when there are people on the cover in a pose like they are in a photo shoot instead of a book cover.

Ashli Barrera Shatter me series legend series and selection series

Michelle When I read shatter me I kept staring at the cover (the one with the eye, not the one with the girl). The eye was alluring. It was a little weird but nice covers. Legend is also cool looking.

Samantha The Escapist Leviathan (Leviathan, #1) by Scott Westerfeld
This is one of my absolute favourite covers in the world, look at it up close if you get the chance. But then the second and third installments had stupid actors on the cover, and THEN they replaced the original with this one: Leviathan (Leviathan, #1) by Scott Westerfeld and now it's all you can get.

Travesty.

Michelle Haha I know what you mean. I hate it when they change the covers and they are worse covers.

For legend series I was mostly thinking about Champion. The rose was freaking awesome.

Michelle The champion cover is the best one of the trilogy.

London Setterby Really love this cover: The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff though I've never read the book. I never really liked the naked man on City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare -- always seemed like a strange choice to me! -- but Clare's other covers are fabulous!

Michelle I totally agree. I guess they want to show the runes but the shirtless guy on the cover makes it look more like a romance, which it isn't really. I like Cassandra Clare's other book covers.
The Replacement cover is creepy and interesting at the same time. I haven't read it either.

Ashli Barrera Also graceling series

Michelle The Graceling series have perfect covers for the actual stories. They aren't random things on the covers. There are also so many different versions of those covers.
Kristin Cashore has her cover gallery on her blog.

London Setterby I love the Graceling covers. :-)

And yes, the shirtless guy does say romance. He also looks older than Jace is supposed to be, doesn't he? Isn't Jace like 17? Weird. Hasn't hurt the book's sales at all, though, obviously :-)

Michelle I'm not sure if the covers hurt or help the sales. Maybe people don't care and have heard good things about the actual book. Who knows...

Izzy I think my all time favourite cover is this:
The Swan Kingdom by Zoë Marriott
Just look how beautiful it is! It's like a still from those capsules and gels for washing machines.

I also like the look of these:
The Declaration (The Declaration, #1) by Gemma Malley

Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder and this version Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder

While that particular cover of 'The Replacement' shows it's about changelings, the mood and complexity of the symbolism misrepresents the novel somewhat. Sadly, the novel itself isn't like that at all.
I read the book with the other cover (emo teenage boy brooding in the forest) so I knew pretty much what I would be reading.

Michelle The Study series has great covers and there are so many different versions. It is disappointing when the cover is deceiving.

Ami E. Bowen I just finished these books and the insides are as beautiful as their outsides!

Crimson Night (Night, #1) by Marie Hall , All Hallows Night (Night, #2) by Marie Hall , Howler's Night (Night, #3) by Marie Hall by Marie Hall Marie Hall

Except my copy of 'Crimson Night' has this cover: Crimson Night (Night Series Book 1) by RS Black but GRs lists this 'Crimson Night' book being by R.S. Black. I wonder if that's a pen name of Marie Hall's because I noticed another of her books, title and cover, by this R.S. Black.

Ah, yes, it's the same person. Lol. From 'Crimson Night' by R.S. Black GRs page: "AUTHOR NOTE: This book was previously published under a different pen name. Make sure you don't already own it before purchasing."

Nicky The Graceling covers are good but I don't generally like covers with people on the front like The Mortal Instruments Series.
I'm sad about the new Harry Potter covers though - I prefer the original UK ones! description

Michelle @nicky I actually like all of the Harry Potter covers. I haven't really seen any terrible Harry Potter covers.
