Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments We were so close to the audio hours that I put in the 15 minutes I listened to this morning to get another guess, so we now have 2.
I always lean towards the rstln to start with.

That's correct, Alicia.

message 53: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments Oh! I thought the vowel we started with was reason we guessed the first puzzle with just 4. Sorry about wasting a guess!

I think the second word of our current puzzle could be "two" or "ten", so does anyone know a book that fits?

I was thinking the same. Don't know of a book that fits, but S might be a good next letter. The other word I thought of was "top", but that seems less likely.

message 56: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments Samantha that fits perfectly!

I have a couple more calls today, but hoping to put up another couple hundred pages tonight.

Maybe we should guess M and G as the next two to be sure?

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Samantha wrote: "I think it might be [spoilers removed]"

Nice job Samantha! I feel like I'm okay at wheel of fortune, but have failed at these. I even thought of the second t word (in case people don't want spoilers), but thought that didn't make sense.

message 58: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments Yay!

message 59: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 1585 comments Traci, the book is one that I have had on an off my TBR a half dozen times or more so once I thought of the second word it fell together, otherwise I think I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

I think guessing M and G seem like a great plan!

I was hoping that I would finish my audio book today but not sure I will get more listening time in. I will put those hours down now and follow up in the morning with my pages read; I will get some of those in later tonight.

message 60: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments Awesome, just requested the G, since Samantha your hours gave us another guess.

Then with the next one we can do the letter guess and the title guess.

message 61: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments Just finished another book, so we have another guess.

message 62: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I posted our letter and guess.

We have 2 guesses to start the next one.

message 63: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Scratch that, I added my 1/2 hour from this morning, we have 3 guesses to start the next one (assuming of course that our guess is correct)

PUZZLE 5: RHYME TIME
The puzzle is a phrase with rhyming words in it or a list of thematically similar things whose names rhyme. In this case, the book title will have a rhyme or alliteration within the title.

message 65: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments This ones a tough puzzle. Maybe an R? Then we’ve rounded out the main wheel of fortune letters

message 66: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments Yeah, sounds good. After that if we still do t have any ideas, maybe a D?

message 67: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I was thinking D too!

message 68: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Haven't gotten much reading done today, will try to get some more hours/pages.

message 69: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments Ill hopefully finish my book tonight and add another 150ish pages. That should get us close to a few more guesses

message 70: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 1585 comments I hopefully will finish another book tonight as well.

message 71: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments I'm having a hard time getting into my book club book, and it is coming up soon so I don't want to read a different book. Sadly, I haven't got much read today.

message 72: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Could also do H for a letter to confirm if the first word is the.

message 73: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments Hey all, I just put in that I finished another book so we're up another guess! I'll be finishing another tonight, as well, and after adding the hours for that (audio) I think it'll be about 6 hours from today.

message 74: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments Just finished my book and pushed us over the 4,000 pages read mark.

So that's 2 more guesses as well!

Great job Capulets!

message 75: by Roxana (new)

Roxana (luminate) | 775 comments Finished that second book, and with both the finishing and the 5.5 hours of it, that’s another two guesses.

message 76: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I tried a D, no go.

message 77: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments So, I googled and scrolled and have a guess, but it feels like cheating....should we guess a letter for my guess or proceed as usual?

message 78: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments Do it, I feel like this one is really tough.

Also, I was confused because I didn’t know alliterations counted for rhyme time.

message 79: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
Alicia, they don't usually, but I amended the rules of Wheel of Fortune to include them because most adult books don't have rhyming titles lol.

message 80: by Chrissy (last edited Sep 16, 2020 08:56AM) (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments It’s The Pickwick Papers, right? I think we should go ahead and guess, so we can use our letters on the next puzzle.

message 81: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 1585 comments Pickwick Papers make more sense the Pentagon Papers which is what popped in my head.

I finished another book and added my pages read to the spreadsheet.

message 82: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Chrissy wrote: "It’s The Pickwick Papers, right? I think we should go ahead and guess, so we can use our letters on the next puzzle."

Yup, that was my find - needed confirmation of the P though.

message 83: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments @Emily that makes sense. I was trying to figure out what rhymed with an R but wasn't R.

This is why I just read and leave the guessing to everyone else.

PUZZLE 6: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
The book title will (sort of) answer this question.

(Your puzzle is so symmetrical and it makes me so happy lol)

message 85: by Chrissy (last edited Sep 16, 2020 09:10AM) (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments I noticed the symmetry too!

We have a lot of clues, what letters should we guess first? Is R ok?

message 86: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I love the symmetry too!!

No 2 or 3 letter words to suggest letters, so R sounds good to me! Might as well go with a couple?

message 87: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments I submitted our 4 required letters, and guessed the puzzle... sorry to jump the gun!

(view spoiler)

message 89: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments Maybe I should get some reading done, instead of spending so much time in AtY!

Nice! How many letters did it take you? I didn't see any letters until they were all there.

message 91: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Chrissy wrote: "Maybe I should get some reading done, instead of spending so much time in AtY!"

I should be working....then I should be reading...instead I'm refreshing pages.

Well done on the guess! And working is not as much fun :)

Since you made it through the first six puzzles I had planned in record speed, you are now entering our LIGHTNING ROUND!

New Rules for the Lightning Round:
- You must get either 2000 pages, 10 audio hours, or 2 books in order to earn one guess.
- In addition to vowels, you are not allowed to guess R, S, or T!

*All previously earned guesses will carry over into the lightning round.

PUZZLE 7: BEST SELLER
This book has been in the first place spot on the NY Times Best Sellers list.

message 94: by Chrissy (new)

Chrissy | 1142 comments So, lightening round is slowed down, not sped up, right?

I just the 4 we guessed, although there weren’t any S’s.

message 97: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments We still have one more guess rolled over right?

Also, do we still need at least 4 guesses before we can guess the puzzle?

message 98: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11215 comments Mod
Yes, and yes, unless there are not enough consonants that you are allowed to guess. I'll let you know if you hit that mark, but otherwise, you need at least 4 guesses to guess the puzzle.

message 99: by Alicia (new)

Alicia | 1490 comments Team, do we maybe want to go with a N?

message 100: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 1585 comments N sound good to me.
