Lieke | 697 comments Looks like you’re right Hannah 😊
I better get some reading done so we can guess two more letters.

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments Good job with the guessing, everyone! :)

Lieke | 697 comments And I finished my paper book (the other was an audio).
Will guess the T now.

And I’m off to bed will start new books tomorrow (audio and paper).

message 54: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1337 comments Great work everyone....I had good intentions to read lots last night and fell asleep (twice!). I just started a new one though and it's only short (116 pages) - so hopefully I can finish that one tonight to add to books read. I fnished 2 books on Monday an audio and one I was reading with my daughter but I didn't have 100 pages left in either I don't think so can't count them as finished books.

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments I finished my first book for the readthon on my way to work this morning, which gives us the last guess we need to be able to guess for A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I'm gonna ask for B, and then we can place the guess for the title when the spreadsheet is updated and get a new puzzle.

The book (Den tredje løgnen) was great btw. It was the last in a trilogy (The Notebook Trilogy), a masterpiece in my opinion. All of them short and quick reads, definitely among my favorite reads this year.

Lieke | 697 comments The spreadsheet was updated so I placed our guess for A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

PUZZLE 4: THINGS
These book titles will all start with the word "The".

message 58: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments We have one guess left we can use on the 4th puzzle.
Does anyone have a good idea where to start?

message 59: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 215 comments I finished my second book so we now have 2 guesses.

message 60: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 215 comments want to guess r and n?

message 61: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 555 comments Go ahead and guess - lots of letters to fill, but I have thought of one book that would fit - The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.
I haven't read as much today due to work and babysitting duties, but will add my pages later and we should get another guess.

message 62: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments Sarah wrote: "want to guess r and n?"

go for it :)

That's a good one, let's see if the R and N fit :)

message 64: by Lieke (last edited Sep 15, 2020 07:17AM) (new)

Lieke | 697 comments It looks like you are right Sue :)
I think W would be a good idea for our next letter.
We better get some reading done so we can guess the puzzle :D

Yes, I just posted my numbers for today and guessed a W, and also asked if an R is missing - there should be two in the last word!

message 66: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments Just noticed that one R is missing so maybe we are wrong...

message 67: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11185 comments Mod
Yep missed that R. It's corrected.

message 68: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 555 comments Okay, we know what the book is - just need another guess. It's late here now so I'm going to sleep - happy reading everyone!

message 69: by Lieke (last edited Sep 15, 2020 07:29AM) (new)

Lieke | 697 comments Good night Sue, I'm almost finished with work and I will listen to my audiobook in my way home :)

message 70: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments My commute home brought up my audio hours to 2.5 today and gave us another guess :)

message 71: by Hilde (new)

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments Excellent, Lieke! On to puzzle 5 already 😊

message 72: by Emily, Conterminous Mod (new)

Emily Bourque (emilyardoin) | 11185 comments Mod
PUZZLE 5: RHYME TIME
The puzzle is a phrase with rhyming words in it or a list of thematically similar things whose names rhyme. In this case, the book title will have a rhyme or alliteration within the title.

message 73: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1337 comments WOW I missed a whole puzzle.....but I finished a book last night so have updated the spreadsheet, which gives us another guess.

message 74: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 555 comments I have just finished another book so am going to guess S. Bec, you should also have a guess.

message 75: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments I added another hour of audio which gives us another guess, let's see what the S gives us :)

message 76: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments Only one S, I have no idea.
Thinking about guessing N, to see if it is .... in ..... .....s

message 77: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 215 comments n sounds good to me!!

message 78: by Lieke (last edited Sep 16, 2020 06:29AM) (new)

Lieke | 697 comments So we have 3 N's:
.nn. .. ....n .....s

Does anyone have an idea?

Edit: I think I know Anne of Green Gables

I was just coming to post the same, Lieke! It must be that one. But we can use our guess for G, and then we know for sure.

message 80: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 555 comments Just got back from book club and saw this - sure you are right! I will post my pages for today soon, and hopefully get another guess.

message 81: by Hilde (new)

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments Great, Sue! Work is very busy here at my end, so I have been struggling with checking in during the day.

message 82: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments The G is in the right places :)
Time to read again... but first I have to work for another hour.

message 83: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 555 comments Well, I have added my pages for today, but not enough to get another guess. I will finish this book tomorrow though...

message 84: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments I added my audio for today, but it is also not enough for another guess.

message 85: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1337 comments Bec wrote: "WOW I missed a whole puzzle.....but I finished a book last night so have updated the spreadsheet, which gives us another guess."

Do we need another guess for this puzzle? If so I go 'B'

Edited to say I've submitted B to the letter post.

message 87: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 555 comments I have submitted our guess - Anne of Green Gables. I only have a few more pages of my current book, and then have a very short, largish print YA novel to read, so might actually finish two books today!

PUZZLE 6: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
The book title will (sort of) answer this question.

message 89: by Sue (new)

Sue S | 555 comments Just finished reading Vanishing Points - incorporating two novellas by one of Australia's most successful novelists of the 2nd half of the 20th century, Thea Astley.
Now about to start Blueback by Tim Winton - probably Australia's best known contemporary literary novelist. This one is a YA/Children's novel so should be a very quick read!

message 90: by Ira (new)

Ira | 358 comments I finished listening to Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton. It is 11 h 16 m long

message 91: by Hilde (new)

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments Ira wrote: "I finished listening to Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton. It is 11 h 16 m long"

I see that you have one hour of audio logged before this, should I substract that from the hours above, or is the 11 h 16 m in addition to that? I noted you down with 1 book finished in the spreadsheet.

message 92: by Hilde (last edited Sep 17, 2020 12:26AM) (new)

Hilde (hilded) | 821 comments Ok, I see we have 6 guesses available, so I'm gonna start us off with a T and a R for puzzle 6, hope that is ok :)

message 93: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments I added my audio hours for this morning, now we have to wait if the T and R are in the puzzle :)

message 94: by Ira (new)

Ira | 358 comments No, it was another audio that I have not finished yet.

message 95: by Bec (new)

Bec | 1337 comments I just finished another book on my train ride home...so added that to the finished books.

message 96: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments Ira wrote: "No, it was another audio that I have not finished yet."

So in total you listened to 12h 16m?

message 97: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments Hilde wrote: "Ok, I see we have 6 guesses available, so I'm gonna start us off with a T and a R for puzzle 6, hope that is ok :)"

Good guess Hilde, I think I know the title :)
(view spoiler)

message 98: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments I guessed an N to see if I'm right

message 99: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments Looks like I'm right, I'm going to guess a fourth letter and the title :)

Since you made it through the first six puzzles I had planned in record speed, you are now entering our LIGHTNING ROUND!

New Rules for the Lightning Round:
- You must get either 2000 pages, 10 audio hours, or 2 books in order to earn one guess.
- In addition to vowels, you are not allowed to guess R, S, or T!

*All previously earned guesses will carry over into the lightning round. I've updated your spreadsheet accordingly.

PUZZLE 7: BEST SELLER
This book has been in the first place spot on the NY Times Best Sellers list.
