Kelina | 22 comments I remember a lot of random details, sorry if this gets a bit confusing.
I must have read the book between 2009 and 2013. I'm fairly sure it was part of a series.
The main character would frequently black out and attack anyone close with superhuman strength (he usually would try to go somewhere without people/try to tie himself up).
later we learn this is because he belonged to some kind of magical race (?)
the magic system in this world was based on some kind of source/stream which was running out/drying up?
I also remember some kind of paladin-like agency and his main love interest, who was a fighter herself.
I read the book in german, but I'm fairly sure it was a translation.
I also think the authors name might have been something close to nicholas/nick/nicholson

Kelina | 22 comments I also think that the social system was based on magic, so access to magic would mean a higher social standing (or the other way around), and some kind of rebellion was forming against this system

Kelina, is this book for teens or adults?

Kelina | 22 comments I think it's for adults, but I could be wrong :)

Kelina | 22 comments some more random details that might help:
- the place the MC goes to when he blacks out has clouds/is in the clouds
- at one point, the characters hide in a cave system, where the MC almost blacks out but his love interest manages to calm him down
- I remember the MC as being this really manly man in a kind of Conan the barbarian kind of way
- there might also have been a kind of gangly teen side character (possibly with red hair), who helps tie the MC up during one of his episodes (MC manages to take off the ropes but is still caught (in some kind of cellar/dungeon)

that's about all I can remember :)

Kelina | 22 comments Found it! It's the Quicksilver trilogy by Stan Nicholls. How do I move this thread to solved?

Great. Glad you found your series, Kelina. Here's the link for the first book - The Covenant Rising (also: Quicksilver Rising) of the "Dreamtime" series by Stan Nicholls.

I moved your request to a Solved folder by clicking the small "edit" link after the header/topic title. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app.
