This is a chapter book possibly from the 1980s about a girl who meets a lonely alien named Rowan who was separated from his spacecraft after possibly crashing on earth. Rowan looks like an old man on the book cover (he didn’t look like an “alien”). The girl tries to help Rowan get back to his planet. It is a story about friendship. I remember this book because it was the first chapter book I read when I was young (I remember how proud I was for reading my first “big book”). It has also stuck with me as I have always liked the name Rowan ever since reading the book and in fact named my daughter Rowan. I would love to figure out the name and author of this book for sentimental reasons.
