I’m trying to remember the name of a children’s picture book. It’s about an old couple - a man who has a cat and a woman who has a dog. The man says he loves the cat warming his feet and night, but the woman doesn’t care for the cat. The old man dies, and the woman doesn’t look after his cat well. The woman is depressed and the cat becomes feral. Eventually she learns to befriend the cat again, and eventually she learns to enjoy the cat warming her feet too. I read this more than 20/25 years ago when I was a kid, and I can’t remember what it was called!
