D.G. | 1370 comments Lauren - I don't know if you read dystopia but a lot of it is considered science fiction.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline is fantastic.

Thanks D.G. I'll take a look

I've read one or two dystopian books, but like most Sci-Fi, the futuristic elements are what turns me off :0(

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments The Martian - I call it sci-fi for non sci-fi readers

I'd recommend On the Beach

It's Aussie so not sure how easily accessible it is overseas. It is apocalyptic so it fits your roll and to me, what i remember anyway, it doesn't read like Sci -fi much.

D.G. | 1370 comments Here's my review of RPO: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... (it's a bit long but that's the usual with me, LOL!)

I just realized that I re-listened it less than 6 months ago and enjoyed it as much the second time around. Now I'm thinking of relistening to it again!

Lahni | 660 comments Tien - can you approve Two for the Dough as romantic suspense? It's listed in the bottom 3rd of the last column.

Margaret | 34 comments I just have a question about the last category. I rolled a 6 and got low fantasy, but when trying to find a book i'm having difficulties due to 2 problems. The first problem is that I have read almost all of the top 10 books, but the second problem is that none of these books have the shelf low fantasy on their top shelves. I would like to read American Gods by Neil Gaiman but i'm not sure that this will apply.

Unfortunately, American Gods will not qualify, Margaret.

The trick is to look at how many times the book has been shelved as 'low-fantasy' vs. how many ratings they are. If a book has only been shelved 24 times as low-fantasy but has 100K+ ratings, it usually would not qualify as the shelf won't be showing on the first page.

Here are some examples that qualify:
The Blade Itself (16 times - 66,572 ratings)
Blood Song
Zero Sight
Deep Secret
The Man with the Golden Torc

I don't know if any of them appeals to you, so good luck!

Lahni | 660 comments Tien: I assumed that since Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell has been approved for others for Low fantasy that it was ok for me too. But its taking me forever to get through it (I get distracted by other books) so I figured I'd better get the official "OK" just in case....
