Help! I forgot the name of this book.

All I can remember is a scene from this IR book. They are on a weekend getaway (I think), and along the way the man stops at a gas station. The black woman tells him she’s coming too. As soon as they walk in all conversation stops and I think things were said about “their kind.” Things are about to turn ugly so the woman convinces the man to leave. He is angry but she isn’t. She tells him she never would have gone in the store to begin with. When he asked her why and how she knew, she told him because it had that big old confederate flag on the side. Was it “Trent?” I’m wracking my pea brain here, so please help!
