You've reached the point of no return, keep going.
I read that book but I faced the same problem with you. It was ok but the story has many pauses which was boring. If it was up to me I would start another (as I did in the end)
Chuck it. It's a bloated unedited heap of words
It took me a couple months to read and I only finished because a friend had recommended it to me. It really doesn't get any better.
Even though it was an expected kind of ending, which provided a neat meal for a starved imagination, I'd summerize with: brilliant ideas in the begining but a weak utilizing of them all in all. There's wit in Charlie's scenes with wayne and interesting but a little stray developments. It's up to you how much you like the characters though.
I had the same problem, completely overwritten. I think it could have been an awesome 400 page book.The last third is the least "puffy" (I don't have a better word) is all the advice I have.

i gave up after about the 4th start to the book. great idea swamped in too many words. i had the same issue with Heart Shaped Box, great idea, drowned in too many characters and flab
I couldn't put the book down! I don't understand why so many are having a hard time with it. It's a fantastic plot, and Joe done really good with his character's Given he's not that good at doing female chars ..But then nor is his dad. But I say keep going!
Sorry to hear some of you have had a hard time with it. This is one of my favorites ever, and I flew through it! Even if you're struggling, though, keep going; I think the ending is worth it. :)
I really like this book but for the extra 200 pages it could have done without. I swear Stephen King edited this book hehe
I liked the book, but I must admit it was a long read for me. I kept putting it down and coming back to it after a few days. It's taken me a good two months to get through it. I'm REALLY glad I did stick with it as the last few chapters in Christmasland are well worth the wait! It is a brilliant book but you just need to have patience with it at times!
I had the same problem of trying to stay interested in this story. Really, life is too short to waste time reading a book this poorly and repetitively written. If one more person felt like throwing up, I was going to puke. :) I did finish the novel, out of habit.

70% keep going
I used to have the mind that if I started a book, I finished better or worse. These days, If I don;t like it, I'm moving on. There are always more the stack. However, I'm making that decision within the first third of the book. If you are almost three quarters in, just finish it.

Loved this one. Finish it!
Keep going. The ending is epic. I also recommend his graphic novel series, Locke and Key.

Go on, finish it. You've invested so much time in it already. Hope you like it better come the end. Defo the most Stephen Kingy of all Joe Hills books, at least for me. I liked it more than Heart Shaped Box but not as much as Horns.
I wasn't really crazy about his books. I read his "Heart-Shaped Box" and really couldn't get into it. When his "Horns" came out, I thought, maybe this one will be different. NO, it was the same to me.

Thank you all for convincing me to keep reading or was it stop and burn the book?What I plan to do is leave it on my kindle for awhile then give it another try. But not right away. I don't want Scott hanging any longer.
