Yes in the SS example they want the page # we found the word we are using when we scavenger hunts, so track item and pg #.
Jammin Jenny wrote: "Yes in the SS example they want the page # we found the word we are using when we scavenger hunts, so track item and pg #."Do you know Jenny if we are listing if the chapter is enough. I do quite a lot of audio. I can ask in the QnA thread if you don't know.
I was going to ask the same thing. I do audio a lot and I can’t always get a ebook from the library to match it up.

I'd ask in Q&A.
Do you know Jenny if we are listing if the chapter ..."
so I checked on the question:If we are reading via audio...for the justification on words in text, is noting the chapter number adequate? Or something more specific?
Mod's reply: That's fine
Jenny or Tammie, when you have a little time, would you please look at the book I added to complete BACON and see if I did it right or anything wrong. I will try to do a scavenger one tomorrow just to make sure I understand.
Vicki wrote: "Jenny or Tammie, when you have a little time, would you please look at the book I added to complete BACON and see if I did it right or anything wrong. I will try to do a scavenger one tomorrow just..."I'm going to defer to Jenny...so check in to see what she says as well.
On the 'Books Read' tab you'll see that your book qualifies for 2 spots on the menu and for the 'FRESH' category. So you can add it to the current spellout for BACON as you did, OR you can either start another menu item and/or fill in one of the other lines. You can't volley between spellout and word find so you would need to start a spellout if you leave your book with BACON.
I still don't understand...our 'shop front' says we have a BLT to die for. Do we only have 1 sandwich? I read 1 book and got 2 quiche and 2 drinks out of that...it doesn't add up to me???

HOT NEWS- Customer Bonus
For every team member that participates in a Book of the Month (BOM) (by joining the discussion and/or writing discussion questions) they will be able to swap out one assigned customer for another of their choice.
Limited to one customer for each team member per BOM. (i.e. you can't get the customer bonus for writing DQs AND participating. But if you join 2 BOMs in October, you can get 2 bonuses).
This bonus will be available for BOMs that start after the challenge begins. That means Chain of Gold will be your first opportunity to earn the bonus.

Based on our books, we have 1 sandwich, 2 quiche, 1 dessert, and 1 drink to offer customers.
I picked and chose items from your scavenger list to come up with the meal choices.
I'm on my way to go ahead and get the BOM from the online libraries. A couple of the BOM this month just were not my thing. I hope these are better. I haven't even looked. I do like the wide selection of BOM books though.
Well......heck.....I read Chain of Gold already this summer y'all. I was holding it until I could have time to enjoy it. I gave it 5 stars if that coax's y'all into reading it.
Vicki wrote: "Jenny or Tammie, when you have a little time, would you please look at the book I added to complete BACON and see if I did it right or anything wrong. So I just watched the video again and took another look at the tabs...I think I finally get it. Jenny please fee free to confirm otherwise...Pretty much everything I had listed originally was wrong.
I had made a quiche, but it was incomplete...notice the tab labeled 'meals and points'. For a quiche we have to find a minimum or 4 of the words noted.
Also I indicated coca cola. But how I had it listed didn't work because there is a minimum page count for books with those items...drinks and desserts...500 pages
We'll need to be careful so that we have a good balance. Fresh meals will expire after the current month.
The meals and points tab was very helpful. There are a couple of items that have MUSTS...so we'll need to watch out for those.
Vinegar is a 'bonus' word for fish 'n chips
Yes that's it Tammie!! I think we should track all food and drink references AND the SIO options and pick whichever works best for that book.
We get this challenge underway a week from tomorrow :)Are we planning that our Restaurant Name and our Team name are one in the same. If everyone could give their opinion on this, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Ohh, I just assumed they were. What do y'all thing? I like Read it and Eat but I open to having two separate also.
Just some dialogue from qna that I thought everyone should be aware of...——-
When I am searching potential books for random food items, I keep running into things like "lime sherbet". Or "chocolate chip cookie".
Would these types of things count as one word from the book or two and three words respectively?

That would be one amazing word!
Reminder that our restaurant prep officially starts on Saturday afternoon! If everyone could please checkin...what book will you start with?
Hey! Whew, I have a lot of books that I need to tackle this weekend. I think I'm going to start with.
Hi guys! Just finished the book I was reading prior to the challenge! So I'm ready to start. this challenge tomorrow :)I think I'm going to start with
. Cant wait to begin
I am signed up to write DQs for the first BOM, Chain of Gold, so unless you really WANT to participate, it's not going to get us any bonus customers.
Clarification on BOMHOT NEWS- Customer Bonus

Jenny, can we each get extra points/bonus if we were all to participate? I plan to read Chain of Gold and you’re writing DQ’s so do we both earn points for our team?
Vicki wrote: "Jenny, can we each get extra points/bonus if we were all to participate? I plan to read Chain of Gold and you’re writing DQ’s so do we both earn points for our team?"We can all read chain of gold and earn a 'customer trade'. That will help us if our meals don't match up to the customers. It's not that we get extra points...but we would end up with extra points with the trade. Hope that makes sense.
I can't read Chain of Gold because I read it within the last 6 months. I'm sorry, I bought it right when it came out and then I read it at the beginning of June. It's really good and I gave it a 5 star. Let me see what these October books look like and I'll make sure to get them if I haven't read them yet.
For October, It's been since 2019 since I've read Truly Devious so I can read that again. Maybe I'll catch things I didn't the first time. That's another super good series. I haven't read Circe so I'll make sure to get that one read during that time also.
The kitchen is open!!◈ Only books STARTED after the challenge begins can count
◈ Re-reads are ok provided it has been more than 6 months since you last read the book
I still have two books I started before this challenge began that I need to finish before I can start reading for this challenge. I'll try to finish both today or at least by tomorrow.
I am loving the book Scythe so far! Its so good and 100% sucked me in. Ive already read almost half of it! 100% recommend if you're looking for a book you won't be able to put down
That book is on my tbr. I'm hoping to work on some tbr books the next couple months. Okay, I thought I understood the spreadsheet but maybe I didn't understand it as well as I thought I did. I may need one of those completion threads so I can post all the food and drink words that I found in this book that I just finished. There were quite a lot. I just hope I found them all.
To help on reconcile our books, I think it would be good if we all created a shelf to place our completed books. If you could post your shelf link here or to the SS if you are SS knowledgeable, that would be great!
I'm open to whatever, but I wanted to clue you in how I've started the work on the SS. I made an 'almost quiche' thinking there are 'eggs' out there somewhere. You'll see I left a "?" with the egg on meal 1 thinking someone might have an egg and could fill the spot. I tried cutting and pasting and the SS isn't friendly with 'cutting'...guessing the formulas may go haywire if we do that...so if we can all just leave spaces that need to fill keeping our meals together, that might work out well...we'll just have to see how it goes.
For now if we just use the minimum needed ingredients we can maximize what we have to serve. We can always go back at the end and fill in more ingredients OR if you think your menu item needs more than the minimum, feel free to make it even more delicious.
Hopefully this makes sense...
My 2nd book has 2x lobster if someone can use to make an item with those...maybe a salad or a curry. I left a fruit salad in progress...
Okay, so I finished two books but I'm definitely going to need spreadsheet help. I think I need a dumbed down tutorial. I'm going to list the foods/drinks I found in the books that I've finished today. I catch on pretty fast but I'm just confused at the moment.

OK...so go ahead and enter all of this on the tab marked 'books read'...then we can go to the next step
If the book is less than 500 pgs, don't bother with desserts and alcohol as that's the min pg count to use those items.

I'm going to create a sheet of my own on my phone so that I can just note it there when i'm listening or whatever. We need the location or page number too right? Need to remember to write those down as well. Still time before we can start our reading for this, but I'm already kinda in tune just knowing it's coming. It's so nice having lots of options...particularly with 80 books...we should have lots!
The longer the books, the more items we'll have on our menu.
