Google Reviews
Now your restraurants are in full swing, some of your customers are going to start leaving google reviews and a score out of 5 after the end of round 2.
Customers can leave reviews for a variety of reasons. But as a guide, they will be looking at:
* Variety of dishes
* Names of the dishes served
* Ability to feed all customers
* Name and description of restaurant
This gives an overall google review score out of 5 which will give you the option of certain additions to your meals to better attract Adult customers when you open in round 3.
Google Score
Score Round 3 Additions
4.25-5 Nice work! Customers are starting to take photos for Instagram and even doing Tik Tok videos outside!
Meals using books with the word "instagram", "chic", or "trendy" in the text or title, or used as a spell-it-out will attract more adults for round 3
3.25-4.24 You're doing well and locals are still testing you out. It will take a bit more though to attract a broader base of customers.
Meals using books with the word "local", "neighbourhood / neighborhood", or "quality" in the text or title, or used as a spell-it-out will attract more adults for round 3
2-3.24 Now known as "cheap and cheerful" you attract families which mean messy children.
Meals using books with the word "crayon", "mess", or "hectic" in the text or title, or used as a spell-it-out will attract more adults for round 3
0-1.9 Your chef quit. Try a new theme for round 3. Pensioners will be attracted to your restaurant, but you will need to work to get other groups in the door
Meals using books with the word "old", "refresh", or "retire" in the text or title, or used as a spell-it-out will attract more adults for round 3
Round 2 Complete
Thanks cooks, chefs and kitchen hands - you have made it through your second month and now have public google reviews!
Frozen Meals from round 2 not consumed
Can be used in round 3. You should copy and paste these from your Shop Front Round 2 to the Shop Front Round 3 tab. Leave the meal number blank or put "Rd2" in the meal number.
Desserts, Drinks and Cocktails from round 2 not consumed
Can be used in round 3. You should copy and paste those you want to use in round 3 from your Shop Front Round 2 to the Shop Front Round 3 tab. Leave the meal number blank or put "Rd2" in the meal number.
Fresh Food from round 2 not consumed
Fresh food not used will be rotten unless you received tips from adults to preserve.
The amount of tips you have from round 2 is directly attributable to your Google Score.
Score Tips
4.25-5 40% of adults tipped
3.25-4.24 20% of adults tipped
2-3.24 10% of adults tipped
0-1.9 0 adults tipped
If you have Fresh food from round 2 you are preserving by using a tip, copy and paste those you want to use in round 3 from your Shop Front Round 2 to the Shop Front Round 3 tab. Leave the meal number blank or put "Rd2" in the meal number.
Google Score
All teams have received a score which is available on the Status Sheet.
In round 3, enter the word you find (if doing a scavenger hunt) related to your Swinbourne Score in the justification on your kitchen tab ; and then when creating the meal tick the highlighted box (column G)
You don't need to use the word in the meal name. So let's say that I find the word chic in my book. And for the sake of an example, let's pretend it is The Maze Runner. (I have no idea if that is true, I just picked a random book!)
Now to work out how to use it. Is there a food word in there I can scavenger? Or can I use it as a spell-it-out?
Let's assume there is no food item in the book. Then I decide I will use it as a spell-it-out instead. I can use 8 letters and it needs to be fresh or frozen (384 pages).
I decide to spell out LETTUCE.
I use T - Theresa and T-Thomas (characters)
in the Kitchen meals created tab justification, I write T: Thomas. (c) & Chic ; page 84
Then on the shop front tab for that meal, we would select the checkbox to show it contains one of the google review terms.
If I find "chic" 4 more times in Maze Runner, and I am able to use that book across 4 different meals, I would be able to tick the box for 4 meals.
Books read cap
For round 3, it is 100 books per team
Customers round 3
The exact number of customers won't be known until they arrive, but be sure it will increase for round 3 as your restaurants gain in popularity!!

My Restaurant Rocks
Create a new restaurant with your team, and get ready to make meals with scavenger hunts and spell-it-outs.
This is a self-directed team challenge, which means you create your own teams of up to six players; and your own team name. We do not recommend this challenge for smaller readers (less than 2 books per week) or for those new to team challenges.
This is a dynamic challenge so although round 1 rules will be pretty clear, as your restaurant is up and running don’t be surprised if things are switched up for future rounds.
Teams will be capped to the number of books that can be read per round. For round 1, this is 80 books. Consider this when planning your teams and also your strategy with reading books.
IMPORTANT
You will need to be able to access and edit Google Sheets to join this challenge. We will give you a template, but you need to use it to track your books and your points.
We work on an honour system, so we are not asking you to submit your spreadsheets for review, but all sheets need to be accessible for viewing by all players. The mods will also be checking sheets at the end of each round.
HERE is an example of what the team spreadsheet will look like - this is an example so we've filled in some info already. And HERE is a short video explaining the tabs and how to complete.
If you only access Goodreads via the app this is NOT the challenge for you. There are limitations with the app, and the Google sheets app with mobile devices and they are not recommended for this challenge.
HOW TO FIND A TEAM
You can use THIS THREAD to find like minded players, or shout out to your GR friends. Either way, sign ups are done AS A TEAM, so you need to have your six players ready to go before signing up. When you have 6 members, ONE person does the sign up AS A TEAM here
Challenge Dates
There will be 3 rounds which are four weeks each.
Starting 19 September 2020, 9pm UTC and finishing 12 December 2020, 9pm UTC.
HOW TO PLAY
About this Challenge
◈ The team with the highest points at the end of the game wins!
◈ Each round teams create meals through a scavenger hunt and spell-it-outs
◈ At end of round, each team get randomised customers to eat their meals. Leftovers expire if fresh (although the team can decide to preserve, more details below)
◈ Meals you create can be changed around at any time during the round, but once the round finishes and customers arrive, the meals are set and can not be changed.
◈ Only books STARTED after the challenge begins can count

◈ Book length is determined by the meals. See below.

SPELL-IT-OUT RULES
Spell out the word(s) using the first letter in the book's title, the first letter in the author's first or last name, or the first letter of a character's first, last, or nick-name, or the first letter of the series name.
As always, if the first letter of a title starts with an indefinite or definite article ('A', 'An', 'The', etc.), you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word.
If the first letter of a title is a numerical digit, then you use the first letter of that digit for your spell out (i.e. 1984 is N; 2046 is T; 1Q84 is O)
If you are listening to an audiobook, the first letter in the narrator's first or last name also can be used.
We're also allowing for Translators names, as long as the edition you are reading is a translation version.
For non-fiction books, character names can't generally be used unless it is written more as a story (for example, memoirs).
