Nikki Blum (nikki_blooms) | 3 comments I read this book within the last 1-2 years, and I believe it would have been published within the last 5-10 years. My memory of it is of a recently published book.

I unfortunately don't remember much of the plot, but the main idea that I took away from it was how much the main character valued when the person they met let them take their time, and didn't interrupt or try to cut them off to "help" them finish their sentence. I think that their relationship with the person became romantic, but I'm not 100% positive.

I'm pretty confident that it was in a modern setting, not historical or a fantasy or sci-fi.

At the time I really appreciated that insight into a condition I didn't know much about. I recently became friends with someone who has a stammer and that idea has really helped me to practice patience. I would love to read the book again now that I have more context for the situation. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Nikki, how old is the main character? Is this book for teens [YA] or adults?

I'm honestly not sure. My gut says it was a YA, and that the main characters were teens or maybe college age, but all I can remember for sure was the sentiment about the stuttering. I'm pretty sure that the person with the stutter was male though. I've been wracking my brain, but I can't remember any other details right now.

Behind the Bars has a main character who stutters. If it isn’t the book you are looking for, I recommend reading it anyway.

That's not the one I was thinking of, but I'll definitely check it out, thanks!

Angela | 625 comments Sadie by Courtney Summers Sadie by Courtney Summers is another YA book with a main character who stutters. It's probably not yours because the main character is female and the genre is mystery/thriller, but I thought I'd recommend it just in case!

Aleksander | 129 comments Probably a long shot (and not YA) but The Bromance Book Club has a main character who stutters and he specifically talks about how his wife never rushed him or finished his sentences
