Luca Fossum (luca_fossum) | 6 comments Hello all you fabulous authors!

I’ve been proofreading and critiquing professionally since I finished university (Creative Writing and Publishing) in 2018. I’ve worked with a variety of clients but absolutely prefer the professional intimacy of working with individual authors, whose passion for the project really shines through.

My beta reading/critiquing service seeks to aid you in the revision process, whether that’s a first and major revision or a final and minor tweaking of the manuscript – or anywhere in between. I’ve worked in a variety of genres but am particularly experienced in critiquing contemporary and romance novels. As a queer person I’ve also got a personal vested interest in helping more amazing LGBT+ fiction into the world.

Meanwhile, my proofreading and proof-editing services look closely at your manuscript, sentence by sentence. I ensure that your manuscript is correct, clear and consistent before you send it on into the world, whether that means self-publication, agent submission or something else.

Both my critiquing and proofreading services are available at three levels to suit different needs and budgets. Critiquing starts at £0.65 (currently USD $0.85) per 1,000 words and proofreading at £2.00 ($2.63) per 1,000 words.

(For those who hate maths, per word that’s £0.00065 ($0.00085) and £0.002 ($0.00263) respectively.)

For detail of what’s included at different levels and to download samples of my work, please see my website, linked below. The website also contains information about my training and experience, along with testimonials from previous clients.

For clients who come to me via Goodreads, I’m currently offering 10% off any editorial work booked before 30 September 2020. The work does not need to be carried out before then, but in most cases I do require a deposit in order to secure your slot in my schedule. To take advantage of the offer, just refer to this post when you contact me.
