ABANDONED. YA novel about a girl with magic who has to hide it and she meets a group of men who unwillingly help her on her quest

This is possibly a long shot. I would have read this book 10+ years ago?

It was about this girl who had magic, but magic was forbidden so she has to hide it. She goes on a quest (for reasons I cannot remember) and meets this group of men. The main guy (who becomes her love interest) doesn't want to help and is all moody and whatnot. And then it turns out he has magic too and can control plants, which he does to save her life against these people that are hunting them.
I think there might be a couple books in the series? And I remember there are these massive plants that eat people if you get to close. She ends up getting eaten by the plant, but instead of killing her is recognizes magic within her and communicates with her and spits her back out and she survives.
