I think I read it around 2010? definitely before 2012 because I remember thinking of this book when the movie "seeking a friend for the end of the world" came out.
But basically it's a boy who hears voices in his head (since birth?) at one point I think he asks if they're god and they say he can call them that if he wants?
the world is going to end within his lifetime by asteroid collision I'm pretty sure.
There's a girl he likes (and I think grows up with) and when they are teens? he decides to tell her about the world ending and everything and it freaks her out and she won't speak to him anymore after that
but then he's allowed to change one thing, and what I remember about that is I think his dad? got cancer or something and died and I think they asked him if he wanted to change that. I also think I remember a scene where they discuss how a little thing can change a lot? I think I remember it being about a bee? or butterfly? something being in a specific spot
Anyway he ends up changing that he told the girl about everything and they get together but like, still die?
the voices in the main characters head was the only fantasy-ish part about it, everything else was normal.

Yes they do, but like I said that's the only fantastical element. It's not something anyone else is aware of or anything.
Pretty sure the setting is modern day USA or close, not sure of specifics.
Don't remember much about the boy in those regards, but I remember it following him through his life so no set age. Probably he was a teenager for a good bit though.
