PhrasingComplex | 5 comments YA... SciFi, I guess. Possibly Dystopian. I read it around 15-years-ago.

There are these two types of creatures that invaded. One is a Blob type that usually come from the water, but they have been coming further and further in land. They also seem to be the far more feared type. The other type are more like flaming skeletons.
Marc, who is around 16-years-old, has a younger sister and a mother.
There's also a friend named Jonny, but he disappears pretty early on.
Every night Marc goes out to fight the fiery skeletal creatures that come every night, while his mother and sister stay home.
Marc meets Bronwyn one night. (I THINK that Bronwyn is her name.)
She doesn't seem the relationship type, but He is definitely into Her. Either way, they do "get jiggy" with it.

For some reason or another Marc and Bronwyn go to old/lost/abandoned city where they meet one of the skeletals and discover they can actually talk.
Bronwyn and Marc part ways by the end.

Creatures of nightmare have come from the sky and the ocean, and Jon had to become a warrior to protect his family, and human life itself, against the fury of the alien attack. But then he meets Bronwyn, who questions the new order and Jon has to ask himself where his loyalties lie and whether fighting is the right answer.

(Ah, the blockquote tag. I've never used it on Goodreads. Thanks Becca.)

Becca (beccalikesbooks) | 5553 comments Haha! I take it that means we can mark this as solved? Well done for remembering the name Bronwyn, by the way - that's how I found it.
