Moved the ISBN13 to the edition with the ISBN10, since it was here first.

I ended up leaving the other edition though, and marked it as an ACE, because things on the cover looked shifted, and the color was significantly different (Yes I know it could have been just faded out).

It was imported from Amazon after the publication date, which means it was listed with that cover. Goodreads policy is to keep all published covers on the site, as users want to shelve the cover of the copy they have. Instead, we add an alternate-cover edition. I'm not a librarian...how do you know whether to post something in the "delete" thread or a "combine" thread?

This is a duplicate author profile which needs to be deleted as the author stated they dont want it:

She said she sent in a request for a author name change ( from Faye Cross to Gemma Newey)as she no longer wishes to write under a false name but the duplicate profile was made instead. Both she and i have attempted to update her profile but it states she must seek a librarian and it advises me the author must do it, so at the moment we are at a loss.

If you could offer me any advise it would be much appreciated.

I have the new book covers which have been added, i believe they need to be made primary. Its just confusing as the book covers now state a different author to her main profile page.

Renske | 12222 comments 198 With #183 those two editions from the links were not duplicates, but the single edition was a duplicate of another edition, so I merged it into that edition.

Merging is when we deleted an edition is such way the reviews are moved to a different edition and are not lost.
Combining is linking edition together so they show as editions of the same work.

A valid edition has data that makes clear it is different from other editions, while a duplicate is missing those data. Editions with each a different ISBN are valid editions, or with a different cover. But a edition with only a title and author is a duplicate of editions with more data. Or a book without ISBN but all other data the same as an edition with ISBN is also a duplicate.

199 First, please don't make such changes to a profile, it doesn't help solving such issues and leads only to confusion.
Did the author ask in this group for a change or to the staff? The policy is that if an author publish under different names we keep those names. The only way an except could be possible is if the staff would agree. And librarians can't do merges with a Goodreads author profile, so this thread can't help you.

What is the reason for removing it? I am asking because it will probably just get re-created by an import, since Amazon has it on their site.

If it is a legal thing she needs to contact support.
