The FBI was completely taken in by Bobbie Swain, even believing she was an abused child. Where did they go wrong?

Bobbie Swain was a very believable victim, almost dying in the attack too. They had no reason not to believe her story.

[Jonetta]

I believe that, too. But they never talked to anyone from that town. They just took the word of someone connected to a criminal. Lucy figures her out just from the interview transcript. If they’d just talked to people she’d grown up with? It wouldn’t have taken long to find the holes in her account.

I agree. They had no reason not to believe her.

I agree too. Of course, being that she was connected to a criminal, you would think that someone would have checked out her story.

I think they believed her story because of her injuries and sad story. Lucy knew more than they did when she read the transcript.
