Why do you believe Agent Sheffield didn’t tell her office what she was up to? Do you think her relationship with Jon may have had something to do with her not telling Marty Strong given what we know about him?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 3009 comments What was going on was way out of her realm of expertise. She wanted to stay on the case, I don't know if it was to make her career or the protect Jon. They certainly would have sent other agents to handle the situation.

I believe she knew Marty had strong feelings for her and was reluctant to tell him not only about her relationship with Jon but the investigation. Look at how hostile he was towards Lucy just for suggesting Victoria was in a relationship with Jon. He wouldn’t have been helpful at all. I also think she was ambitious, which in combination with her issues with Marty, led her to make regrettable decisions about investigating the town.

Robin (robinmy) | 2485 comments She was ambitious and didn't want someone else working the case. It was her discovery and she didn't want to hand it off to agents with more experience. This kind of case wasn't something she normally would handle.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I think it was mostly ambition. She wanted to solve this case on her own. I don't think she realized how much danger she was in.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments I think she was trying to make herself look good and show her team that she could do it regardless of the risk. I also think she did love Jon and was doing it for him.
