Carlinah Karl | 19 comments He was unpopular but because he has this magic pen which can turn whatever he draws into reality, the boy goes on these adventures with mythical creatures and beings. There is a headless horseman who speaks through his butt and his horse can talk. There is a man whose nose hair is so long that it's now a mustache. This guy tricks the boy into putting his hand in a box/chest of biting ants. When I read this book there were four books in the series and I'm not sure if what I mentioned were in the same book or from the other books in the series. I remember one had an orange cover with the mustache guy. the other covers were green, purple and I think blue? I'm pretty sure one of them featured the headless horseman. Before the boy got the magic pen, his teacher had it first but wouldn't give it to him because he thought the boy didn't deserve it. Please help me find it I read it when I was primary school somewhere between 2010-2014.

SBC (essbeecee) | 1594 comments Reading your description and that you read it in Australia made me think it sounds like something Andy Griffiths might have written. I looked up his books and he does have one about a magic pencil - Is it Pencil of Doom! by Andy Griffiths? It's one of the four books in his Schooling Around series.

Carlinah Karl | 19 comments I think I the title of the books was something along the lines of GRIMM?

Following up on Paige's suggestion of The Headless Highwayman (book 1) by Ian Irvine:

Google Books preview: https://books.google.com/books?id=QSq...

Quotes:
'We need a magical device for spying on things that are far away, and you've got to draw it.'
'Draw what?' said Ike, not liking the sound of 'magical'. Magic had caused all the trouble he was in.
'A set of trioculars.'
'How can I draw something I've never heard of? Are they like a telescope?'
'More like binoculars. Do binoculars exist in Groganbum?'
'Gulargambone,' he corrected. 'Yes.'
...
'What am I supposed to do?' said Ike. 'I can't draw a second door.'
'Get - me - out!'
