SOLVED. YA 2 children find abandoned Victorian homes. [s]

I read this book in the 3rd grade, which was 1996 but the book was probably written in the 80s.

I don't remember much except what the headline says. Basically these two kids (I want to say a brother and sister, around 10 years old or so) are wandering around and happen upon all these old Victorian homes that have been abandoned except one. An old woman still occupies it and at first they are scared but she then tells them about the history of the area.
