Welcome to the seventh in the Angela Marchmont series.

Angela has now returned from Italy and on a reluctant visit to her painfully respectable brother and his wife, Angela Marchmont finds herself once again caught up in murder when a local farmer is shot dead, apparently at the hands of his sworn enemy. But the case is not as simple as it seems, for other motives and suspects soon come to light. With reporters hot on the scent and her friend, Inspector Jameson, battling a conflict of interest, Angela must use all her ingenuity to unravel the case and bring the murderer to justice - or more than one person will suffer the consequences. As well as Jameson, this novel also features Freddie Pilkinton-Soames,who is, as always, searching for a good story.

Please do not post spoilers in this thread. Thank you.

Who else is reading this one?

I have read it and really enjoyed it - I laughed out loud several times during the early chapters, where Angela goes to visit her pompous older brother. It's also fun to have Freddy turning up again. This series is my perfect comfort reading!

That's good to hear, Judy. I am looking forward to reading the Freddy books, but am holding off until I finish the Angela Marchmont books. I do like the characters, but there is a tad too much romance for me.

I'm waiting to read the Freddy books until I finish the Angela ones too. I may just be tempted to rush ahead with Angela, as I've noticed the books are all on Scribd, which I'm subscribing to again at the moment. :)

I read it and enjoyed it very much. Mrs. Hunter was great, and Freddy added a lot of humor this time, sometimes in past I thought he was annoying, pestering Angela for a story. Corky was a stinker!

Yes, perfect comfort read! And the audiobook was fun.

Me, too, I want to see Freddy on his own - I wonder if he’ll have a different debutante chasing him in every book? He has joked about having to cover social events. I wonder if Corky will be his regular Nemesis?

It would be fun to see Corky turning up again. I imagine the Freddy books may have scope to show him going into some different settings - but I need to finish the Angela series first!
