I read this around 2014. The cover is a dull color, maybe a light gray/green/blue, might have a face or a ship on it. The author's last name is probably around mid-alphabet.

The main character is a young girl named Adeline, possibly Addie for short.

At some point her father, the captain of a ship, leaves to sail somewhere, and i think she goes to find him. She meets one of his crew members by the ship and tells them she's his daughter, but the crew member tells her the captain doesn't have a daughter. Adeline realizes her father never told them about her, and feels betrayed and abandoned. I think he may be her only family

I‘m guessing the girl was around 11, and the boat was on the ocean.

I'm not sure if it was contemporary or historical, although it may have had fantasy elements in it. I don't know where the girl lives. I believe her mother is either dead or left, and I don't think she has any siblings.

Adaline Falling Star by Mary Pope Osborne? Adaline's father is a scout / explorer, Adaline travels by boat to find him, and there is a scene where she learns that he hasn't told anyone she exists. I think the cover matches your description too:
