I'm reading the Prayer Shawl Chronicles by Cynthia Coe. This book is a total surprise to me. I opened the book expecting a story that is connected and related. The story is told in vignettes of characters whose connection is knitting prayer shawls for a church project. Some of the characters have a connection with each other, while others don't. I'm "enjoying" it, I guess, but it is totally not what I expected.

Fifth Sun: A New History of the Aztecs by Camilla Townsend

The author is a history prof at Rutgers. She based her research on indigenous accounts, and I liked this fresh perspective Mesoamerican history, particularly how this area came to be New Spain.
