PattyMacDotComma Snow Blind by P.J. Tracy is one to read on a hot day. Bl**dy freezing weather! Still, intrepid (sometimes terrified) detectives keep braving the icy roads to hunt down killers.

Hello friends!
Have you already voted in the poll to choose our group's 2022 yearly theme? The poll closes on November 14th.

The reason I've been posting this message here and there is because Goodreads' recent change to our privacy settings (without consent) means that a majority of our group members no longer receive our monthly messages.
So please, if you haven't done so already, cast a vote in the 2022 Yearly Theme Poll (simply click on this link).

Thank you!

Pat Barker is brilliant! I've been impressed by all her books.

Lisa (lisamichelle2989) | 4 comments I just finished reading Truly Devious and am now a few chapters into the second book in the series: The Vanishing Stair . So far I’m loving it! The first book was very good but the beginning of the second book already seems like it might be more fast paced and exhilarating than the first, as it is starting to delve a bit deeper into the heart of the main plot.

PattyMacDotComma Here's a good gift idea, particularly for girls you want to encourage to read. It is colourful, illustrated, bite-sized tastes of Austen, the Brontës, and others: Why She Wrote: A Graphic History of the Lives, Inspiration, and Influence Behind the Pens of Classic Women Writers by Lauren Burke.

PattyMacDotComma Michael Jordan still draws crowds, although it's been a long time since we watched him play basketball. His is one of the latest stories featured in the "little people: BIG DREAMS" children's picture book series by Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara. Great story! (not a fan of the artist this time)

PattyMacDotComma I don't always like books that win the Booker Prize, but 1987's Moon Tiger by Penelope Lively is terrific. It was even shortlisted for the Golden Booker, best in 50 years. Straight to the favourites list (or the pool room, for Aussies 😊).
