I am looking for a book where the main villain was once a healer. He had some kind of power that allowed him to heal people, but in order to do so he had to take the wounds/pain into himself. He was a part of some organisation (perhaps military?) and they pushed him too far - healing too many people in a short time broke his mind. I can't quite recall the main plot, the part I described is just the main villain's backstory, and I can't quite place it in any of the books I have on my GR shelves. The book itself might have been written from multiple POVs. Any help would be appreciated.

Anna, around what year did you read this book? A range of years is fine. This will help us narrow down the search faster.
Sounds like this book is written for adults, not teens?

Kris I wish I knew more but it's just a random snippet of the book that's bothering me. I've been checking all books on my shelves trying to remember their respective villains and their backstories but none fits so far.
Anna, you have 470 comments in the group and a private profile, which means moderators have no way to see how many threads you've started. Please unprivate your profile - so we can see the threads you've started (your "topics"). We need to see them so we know if you're creating duplicate threads.

I do enjoy solving other people requests and post possible answers quite frequently but these are NOT my threads. But if you want me to change anything in my profile the answer is no. You can close this thread and/or you can kick me from this group if you wish so.
EDIT: A few linked posts for you to check:

On another note - can possibly anybody confirm/deny that there was such villain/fallen hero character in Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind? I am positive that it's how the healing magic worked there but I can't quite bring myself to re-read the entire series since it's long and (in my opinion) deteriorated halfway through.
Found it. I messed up parts of my vague description but I think it's solved now. It was a (pretty insignificant) part of the plot of Not Another Vampire Book. Checking book after book paid off eventually:).
