I get the feeling that Sarah J Maas watched The Mummy before writing up that painted outfit scene. Fairly certain not one person is actually out to kill her, even when it’s a four against one fight she only gets bruises and a broken nose. The whole mountain is on her side, plotting Amarantha’s downfall.

Yup, that's exactly what I was thinking on the 'outfit'!

The whole cross-species hatred thing peaks and troughs through the whole book when it's convenient for the story, methinks. And with all these magical healing abilities the whole peril element is vastly reduced, too.
