SOLVED. YA/middle grades chapter book - each chapter a different adventure for a girl who lived in a trailer park and had a pet hamster. One of the adventures had something to do with a mall Santa maybe? [s]

I remember reading this book for the accelerated reader program in late elementary or middle school which would have been the mid to late 90s, possibly early 00s. The book seemed like it was set around the same time period (it didn’t seem like an old book). It was one of those books where you follow the main character through different, unique adventures in each chapter (I don’t remember one over-arching plot). Here’s what I remember: the main character was a girl, probably 11-12 year old. She mentioned living in a mobile home or trailer but in a very matter of fact way, not in any sort of judgmental or pointed way. She had a hamster or gerbil as a pet (I think one of the adventures was her getting the pet?) And I have this memory of something about a mall Santa? Maybe she was working as an elf for a mall Santa?
