The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer

I used to watch Glee up until season 4 (after which I stopped, because season 5 only made me sad) and though I have highly ambivalent feelings about Chris' character, I like Chris himself. I saw some of his interviews and he's funny and witty and I have high hopes that this book will prove to be like that too.

I'm about 30% in and so far, it's really good. Sometimes I get slightly confused about his wording (what is a "complicated smile"?), but other than that I like it. It does have the sharp, witty humor I associate with Chris, mainly directed on the "common sense meets the fairy-tale world" theme. Likeable character, fast-paced plot...and if it gets too close to other books for my liking, it usually acknowledges the similarity. I am even pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying it.
