ABANDONED. Book about Awakening as a monster mage, he gets a spider like monster that can copy other monsters

I read this book about a year ago, It was a book about a child awakening as some type of monster mage, he got a spider that can copy and look like other monsters. His mother worked in a tavern and he joined the church so they would sponsor him to go to the academy. at the academy he meets 2 noble brothers, both with dragon-type monsters, one being a hydra and other being a smaller dragon type.

Thanks for any help you can provide it has been bugging me that I can not remember the book. I think i read it on amazon kindle, but it might just be an online book.

Matthew, is this fantasy book for teens or adults? How old are the main characters?

I think maybe for young adults, the MC is rather young (teenager) but there is gore in there, about monsters and people ripping each other apart.
