Book Reccs for Waiting in Lines

My goodness. I just got out of waiting in a really slow moving line at a bank, and found out I need to go back for another transaction. Before COVID, it was possible to set an appointment with the bank. I don't know why they decided to stop that feature with the pandemic when I think it would actually be more useful to set bank appointments.

Anyway, so what are your recommendations for best books to read while waiting in line?

I always read while waiting in line! That's one of the big reasons I do most of my reading on the Kindle app on my phone - I read waiting in line, on the metro, waiting for the crosswalk light to turn...but I recognize that not everyone likes picking up their books for a few minutes at a time.

Anyway, if you don't want to switch to doing a ton of Kindle app reading, my other suggestion is the app Serial Reader. It breaks down classic books into ~20 minute chunks and gives you one per day. Way more classics than people realize were published in installments - it's a very authentic way to read them!

Listening to audio works well for me. I have a tiny iPod or I can use my phone. I don't mind short stretches of reading. I will read while brushing my teeth!

I listen to audiobooks or podcasts while I wait in lines, during grocery runs and such. I find it's easier to listen rather than read when I'm out of the house. But it's less so now coz of the stay-at-home orders.

Ooooh I love Serial Reader! I read Anna Karenina through that app and it was wonderful. It also helped me pace Frankenstein when I taught it to my high school students.

Otherwise, I just bring whatever book I'm reading haha! I don't mind carrying a hardcover book around and popping it open whenever I have a second.

Little late, but I highly recommend audiobooks. I listen to them when I'm driving, walking my dog, at the store (especially Target) and every COVID line.

There are some really great authors whose voices have made me want to read other books they narrate just to keep hearing their voices.
