As I was reading I kept thinking that it seemed familiar and wondered if I had read it before. If this was the first psychological thriller/mystery it is more likely that the story was familiar because it has been copied a gazillion times.
When Paul Blackshear talks to Evelyn, I knew there was something off. Helen running into traffic the chapter later confirmed it. But I never would have guessed multiple personality disorder.
Don't feel bad, I didn't even guess the ending either. It was a complete shock.
